When you were fully in, did you believe that you would not die?
by TTWSYF ini know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.

Looking back, it must be kinda funny for most here, but as my brother and his family are still fully in, I am truly perplexed by the lack of reasoning that this cult surpresses.

The Real Reason why the WT predicted Armageddon in 1975
by OrphanCrow ini am of the opinion that the wt doctrine is influenced more by external factors that it is by internal ones.
one of the doctrines that has puzzled me for some time is the armageddon prediction of 1975. why would the wts make this prediction?
what was their real purpose?.

Membership drive that never ends. My thoughts are that the reason to "stay alive til 75" is the same reason that there were all those failed dates from the early 20th century. The same reason that they claimed the 20th century would be the last before Armageddon. The same reason that they speak of generations from 1914 and etc, etc.
It's a membership drive. Everything they do is for a membership drive. Join now or you won't be saved.
My elder brother goes to a local prison every week to gain membership only. No visiting for anyone who has no interest in the WTS, potential members only.
JWs who do not believe the end is near still promote it as a way of theocratic warfare [aka-lying for the Truth]

Is changing the "truth" / presenting "new light" really so bad?
by Zana inplaying devil's advocate here.... what's the difference between the gb changing bible interpretations compared to parliaments all over the world changing laws?
although the us constitution (=bible) remains untouched, congress passes i don't know how many new laws every year.
and of course people are expected to follow them.

HEB 13;8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
MAL 3;6 I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.
so, I guess that is a strike against the WTS policy of changing doctrine to fit their timing and membership drives.

CHRISTENDOM is doomed...........
by The Searcher in..........according to these wtbts's literature quotes:god’s word is heavy with doom, announcing christendom’s imminent destruction; .
christendom is a fake "kingdom of the heavens" and is full of badness; .
christendom, professing love for jesus, actually rejects him; .

Finally! After some 150 years of talking, the end is finally at hand.
30,000 plus forms of Christianity and that guy Russell was the only one who got it right. Doing everything that a true Christian should. Doing everything that Jesus instructed and commanded us to do.
I for one, am so relieved!

Jehovah`s Witnesses Boasted They have No Clergy Laity Class ?
by smiddy inwell that`s what was impressed on me to differentiate between the true religion and false religion , when i was converted in 1960 , do they still claim that ?
believing that they still do , i will say this.. what about ,:the governing body who definitely are set apart from the rank and file for their attitude towards the r&f , but also from the attitude of the r&f towards the governing body members.many do seem to idolise gb members by their actions , and the gb members dont seem to discourage that.. and not only for their attitude , how about their life-style , being housed in bethel with all the mod -cons of modern civilization as opposed to a r&f member living in a third world country .does the wt society do anything to make their lifestyle improve ?
{ did jesus have a place to rest his head ?

The obvious truth is that the WTS is just another religion started by a person. One person decided to start his own religion. Exactly like the other 30k other sects of Christianity.
How do you know that there is no authority in their teachings?
answer-their fruits. Witnesses have NO fruits what so ever. Great people who are God fearing, but you'd find that in every faith. It's the lack of fruits which make the WTS un-authoritative.

How do we know JWs are wrong and how do we convince others JWs are wrong: logic versus persuasion
by slimboyfat inwe like to think we are logical and have good reasons for for our beliefs.
no more so than when it comes to our reasons for rejecting the truth claims of jws.
we reject their version of history, such as the date of the fall of jerusalem, because it doesn't agree with the historical evidence.

Some of my observations include
1] Overwhelming commitments by the org itself prevent some from having the time to research truth. And may make folks too tired to research.
2]Total and overwhelming love bombing about the org lets others feel ok about guilting anyone who has the inclination to research the truth.
3]And this is the most important in my mind, the [liminal and subliminal] teaching or training of shutting down mentally whenever any negative thought about the org enters the mind.
This happens to everyone on the org, and simple knowing the truth about the truth [TTATT] is not enough. You must remove observation 3 before you can acknowledge the truth.
My elder brother [like many posters] would say that Jesus quote "' you know a tree by its fruit' and the JWs are the only ones going door to door restoring the true name of God"...you all know the line, But when I told him that going door to door was a work and not a fruit he could only reply over and over that "those are fruits, those are fruits."
No dear brother, those are not fruits and you need to address observation #3 before acknowledging that works are not fruits because then, very quickly, you would see that there are no fruits and you never would have joined or been baptized in the org or anything else org related.

JW claims of having the most accurate translation of bible
by StarTrekAngel inis is true at all?
if so, are there any independent sources who have asserted this claim?
who did the translation?.
-
TTWSYF
NWT is not accepted as a legit translation by any scholastic organization.
The NWT is a Watchtower version of the holy bible. It is not a translation as much as it is a version.
Some say that all bibles are biased, but the truth is that the bible is a catholic book. They confirmed what was to be included and excluded. It's their book and if you want to know about that book, you should go to the source as JWs have only 150 years of bible experience and the church that created it has 1700-1800 years of keeping and maintaining the scriptures.
Sorry if you don;t like the truth..... lol
