Hello - new
by freshstart inhi, just wanted to introduce myself.
born-in, as was my husband.
we were both baptized as teens, married when we were teens (he was early 20s) and we were both the "perfect" witnesses.

I'm sorry, but I have to say this re Kim Kardashian (fluff thread, sort of)...
by AGuest inbut i do so to be fair (may you all have peace!):.
if she were my daughter, and kris humphries said to her what he said to ms. kim, when she voiced her concerns (again) about not wanting to move to minnesota (which she did before getting married and he "pretended" to accept), i might tell her he's the wrong guy/man, too.
no, i don't believe in divorce "just because,"... and don't know that i would tell my daughter to divorce him (she made her bed, so to say), but.... what did he say?

A Guest...You need to get yourself some books. Shoot, the Twilight series would be better than watching the junk you're watching. (Psss...you can find all kinds of them at the library and read them for free!)

Is this an anti-JW website?
by keyser soze inwhen i registered here over 4 years ago i thought it would be a good place to interact with like-minded christians who loved jehovah as much as i do.
but after reading some of the posts on here i'm beginning to believe that the sentiment on here is largely anti-witness.
i justed wanted to tell you all what vile and hateful people you are..

If I hear one more person say...
by iamwhoiam in"even if we don't agree with new light, we should ask ourselves, where else would we go?
without this organization, we would never have learned the basic bible truths we have today.".
this was stated twice in commenting and once by our conductor during our wt study yesterday.

You can't say that you are inspired by Jehovah (and therefore infallible) and then when you've said/done something obviously wrong say, "But we're imperfect humans" (elders) or "we just got us some New Light" (GB). You've gotta pick one or the other. You can't be infallible and imperfect at the same time.
And while it's hard to pin down exactly when you can say Russell invented the "religion", he published "Three Worlds and the Harvest of this World" in 1877. If you use that date as a beginning point (and there are arguments that you could start farther back) the "religion" is at least 134 years old.

I always wondered how I could be sure THIS "New Light" wasn't going to turn into next year's "Old Light" when some new "New Light" came out...

Confused...
by raxxxx in.
hiya and... i do not really know where to begin... currently a jw... slightly starting to fade... got a girlfriend baptised... i am baptised also... my head is a mess... i do not know what to believe anymore... never really fully trusted elders as it comes to 'leading the flock'... got burned a few times with their ... decisions etc.
read a few articles in here about their alleged false beliefs... do not really know what to do... wondered if any of you felt like that at any point... when something that you trusted and followed most of your life... does not seem to be what you thought it was... .

Raxxx-
Lots of us have done the fade and most of us know what you are feeling. When you're dealing with the WTBTS, it's not just a religion that you're doubting, but the underpinnings of the way you live your life.
As others have said, take your time and do your research. You'll be scared often and outraged just as often, but if you want to fade as opposed to DA'd or DF'd you'll have to keep your thoughts to yourself.
Come on here and ask as many questions as you like. Congratulations on starting on this journey early in your life...you'll have more time to enjoy the freedom on the other side!

Kids in hospital, JW family still shuns.
by mamalove init was an awful weekend both of my kids were in the hospital with pneumonia.
one had to stay the night and the other was treated in the er.
it was extremely stressful and worrisome to say the least.

I sympathise...very hard to have kids that are so miserable.
I'd just let it ride with the family. It will only up your stress level to take them on right now and it won't change them. Concentrate on your family and take care of yourself, as well. Hope everyone is on the road to recovery.

I found it!
by N.drew inthis is an illustration that best describes in human terms what i believe eve did.. picture the litle pieces of paper that contain an alcohol prep swab.. sometimes i come accross one that is old*, and it's been hanging around for a while.. so what comes to mind is; "i wonder if it is still damp?".
i could open it to check (that is what our mother did).. or i could throw it away (that is what god did not do).. or i could leave it alone.. if i open it, then i will either pretend i need it and use it, then throw it away.. or i should throw it away.

EP--Rats...Now I WANT to put "Batshit Crazy" as a language spoken on my facebook page. Can I still do that even though I don't speak it? I can't understand it either, apparently, because I have no idea how N. Drew's analogy works.
EP--I had no idea that "Grammar Nazi" was one of his titles.

Are you sure leaving is a wise decision ?- Lurkers think twice- Part 2
by mankkeli inin the previous thread of this series, i called lurkers attention to the need of being discreet when contemplating an exit from the jw religion.
i mentioned that the thread was borne as a result of the general observations i made reading old posts here and discussing with many ex-jws and their lives have gradually turned out.
that thread alone was visited more than 2,980 times and graced with 204 contributions.

Shamus100 - Which doctor can vouch 100% for your survival if you take blood?, If they cant confidently vouch for the success of the surgery, then it is all about trial and error
Well, I would say the only one who could vouch for 100% survival would be Jehovah. And I bet there were parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters praying desperately for those kids.
If you believe in the god of the bible, he could have reached down and cured those kids with the tip of his pinkie. Or he could have used his 1-800-the- Governing-Body number to give them a little "new light" about blood so they could have given the human doctors a fighting chance to save those kids.
Or, he could have sent a ram or something the parents' way so they could have made a sustitute sacrifice. Nope, for those kids, Jah let the parents go through with the sacrifice. Maybe he's decided he likes the smell of sacrificial human blood the best after all.
