Yeah, let's call them apostates. It fits well. And we can call ourselves "heretics"! Heresy literaly means "choice".

living apart from the world
by looloo in"living apart from the world" is a phrase used by jws to proove that they are "different to other faiths and therefore "right" because jesus said true believers would have "no part of the world" but as a study i never thought they did "live apart from the world as they would go out for a drink, to see a show (performed by worldley people ) go on holidays , claim benefits , work with worldley people / go to school etc when you were jws did you actually feel you were no part of the world ?
i think the amish and the flds really do "live apart from the world " but your average jw probably hasnt even heard of them !.

"Living apart from the world (being physicaly removed from the rest of population)" and "being no part of the world (ideologically)" are two different things. JW, being a proselytizing religion, could not exist away from other people.

When I was a little girl I had all the answers!
by Hortenzie inwhen i was little ... i thought that when people die they lie in their coffins and think about all the nice things they experienced during their lives.
therefore, creating pleasant memories should be the main purpose in life.
as well as being happy and making other people happy should be.

Therefore, creating pleasant memories should be the main purpose in life. As well as being happy and making other people happy should be. Then I grew up and tried to find my answers in philosophy and religion. Now, years later I'm starting to realize that as a little girl I was closer to the truth - I'm starting to think again that making people (and myself) happy and creating pleasant memories IS the purpose of life.
Do you have any "pearls of wisdom" from "the mouths of babes'?

What is the Biblical Support for Observers at the Memorial ???
by RubaDub ini have never gotten a good answer for this questions from any other jw's other than "everyone was of the annointed back in the first century" or "we are showing our respect for the arrangement" or some other nondescript comment.. even the notion that we "celebrate" the memorial is not accurate since the "celebration" part is limited to 8 or 9 thousand people and the 15 million or so that attend are merely observing or watching.. is there some other biblical support for people to observe the celebration ???
in all my life as a jw, i still don't quite understand the significance of it from a biblical persective.. rub a dub .

Perry - Not interested. Thank's anyway. (Wow, that was easy. Should have done it to JWs years ago...)

My Dad - because he loves me, cares about me, and always gives me the best advice (example - Never do anything you could't do if I was watching). He is also lots of fun and he taught me to love nature and traveling...
My Brother - because he always danced to his own drum... In a quiet not "in your face" kind of way.
My Boyfriend - because he always says exactly what's on his mind - no matter what the consequences.
If you meant three famous people then - Jesus, Joan of Arc, and Albert Schwietzer - basically for the same reasons as above.

Perry - You said: "Get off the hampster wheel and be obedient is my best advice". Obedient to who? To God, to Jesus? - I don't know what they want from me. To people and their ideas about God? - I'm passed that...

I have been wondering about it. Even after leaving JWs I went to the Memorial every year. I wanted to show my appreciation to Jesus and that was the best way I knew how. But just a few months ago I learned that the Black Mass is basically the same thing, and also some people on this forum called it "Jesus rejection party". I thought about it and decided not to go anymore until I understand, from the Bible, what is the right thing to do. So this will be my first year not going to the Memorial...
I have a question - Those of you who still belive in Jesus and his sacrifice - what do you do in harmony with his command "keep doing this in remembrance of me?"

CO talk: "Jehovah's Witnesses killed Jesus"
by sd-7 inmentioned in his talk last week that the jews, who had the name "jehovah's witnesses" applied to them, killed jesus.
i found that a particularly revealing admission, simply from the way he said it.
"jehovah's witnesses killed jesus," he said.. he went on to explain that the coveted title of "jehovah's witnesses" was taken from the jews.

JWs wouldn't kill Jesus (it's against their religion) but they would certainly Df-ed him!
