Blondie, thanks for the clarification! Sometimes, out of curiosity, I go the the Sunday meeting but never to the mid-week ones. So I didn't know about that change...

What is "Congregational Bible Study"? We used to have "Congregational Book Study" but that was discontinued a couple years ago...

Were you told by JC that God will no longer listen to your prayers?
by Hortenzie ini was df-ed 3 years ago.
during the process nothing extraordinary happened.
everything proceeded as if according to a script.

Interesting comments - thanks!
Lisa - I wish I had your "presence of mind"!!!
Luo - Wow, such a ruthless and disrespectful statement. Nobody has the right to talk to children about their parents like that!!!

Thanks for all the comments so far... Purplesofa - you are right. The article is found in WT95 4/1, pages 10-15. Paragraph 10 makes the statement you mentioned but the context shows that it applies to God's servants.
The other thing said at that occasion was that even after being df-ed I still remain dedicated to Jehovah. Which I though was odd. How can I be still dedicated to Jehovah if he doesn't listen to my prayers and "his" organization shuns me?

I was Df-ed 3 years ago. During the process nothing extraordinary happened. Everything proceeded as if according to a script. Elder who knew me for years treated me with dignity and respect but I couldn't recognize any semblance of feelings on their part. The only thing that took my breath away was that at the end one of the elders made a statemen that Jehovah God will not listen to my prayers anymore - it actually felt that he was forbiding me to pray. I was speechless and just left without a word...
Did that happened to you? Do the elders have procedural script for Judicial Committees? Were you told that God will not hear you anymore?

Is it my imagination or is there more Apostasy about?
by freddo inhere in the uk over the last couple of years i hear more about people leaving/being removed due to apostasy?
do you think this is true or is it because my radar is up and listening?.
.

Yeah, let's call them apostates. It fits well. And we can call ourselves "heretics"! Heresy literaly means "choice".

living apart from the world
by looloo in"living apart from the world" is a phrase used by jws to proove that they are "different to other faiths and therefore "right" because jesus said true believers would have "no part of the world" but as a study i never thought they did "live apart from the world as they would go out for a drink, to see a show (performed by worldley people ) go on holidays , claim benefits , work with worldley people / go to school etc when you were jws did you actually feel you were no part of the world ?
i think the amish and the flds really do "live apart from the world " but your average jw probably hasnt even heard of them !.

"Living apart from the world (being physicaly removed from the rest of population)" and "being no part of the world (ideologically)" are two different things. JW, being a proselytizing religion, could not exist away from other people.

When I was a little girl I had all the answers!
by Hortenzie inwhen i was little ... i thought that when people die they lie in their coffins and think about all the nice things they experienced during their lives.
therefore, creating pleasant memories should be the main purpose in life.
as well as being happy and making other people happy should be.

Therefore, creating pleasant memories should be the main purpose in life. As well as being happy and making other people happy should be. Then I grew up and tried to find my answers in philosophy and religion. Now, years later I'm starting to realize that as a little girl I was closer to the truth - I'm starting to think again that making people (and myself) happy and creating pleasant memories IS the purpose of life.
Do you have any "pearls of wisdom" from "the mouths of babes'?
