Sir82, did you forget that it is JW who teach that if you are a part of an organization, you are personally responsible for its actions (that's why they don't join any org. except teirs)? Whoever perpetuate a lie IS a lier, as well. I am not angry, I take responsability for my choices, too. And all I want to show by this action is that I don't believe their lies.

Waiting for the JWs to come to my door...
by Hortenzie ini read about the new tract distribution and thought to myself how should i react, when they come to my door.
finally today, after finishing my morning coffee, i got an idea!
i'll take the tract, look at it, look at them, and with a nice smile rip it up and hand it back to them with :"have a great day!

Finkelstein, you are wrong. Ignorance is a choice and in this "Information age" it is not even an excuse, any longer. And you well know, they won't read any information you point them to...

Kate, there is only one "them", "they" are united (their own words). They all believe the same things and they are all responsible for their thoughts, words, and actions.

Hi everybody, thanks for your comments.
I do not understand why ripping up the tract is disrespectful. Can somebody explain it to me? (I mean it, I'm not being sarcastic). Why do you, guys, think that is OK for them to rob me of 15 years of my life and make me loose my faith in God, and it is disrespectful for me to show them what I think about their lies?
Kate, yes, it will make me happy, and I don't think they care... The message I want to send is that I don't believe in their message.

I just hope, they will not count it as a placement since I have to touch the tract in the process ;)
What do you think? Or what is your idea?

I really need some help to get out of this religion
by doughnutkitty inhi, i've been lurking on this site for quite a while after recently having doubts about the "truth".
i've read a lot of posts about problems with the doctrines, mind control, the beliefs, brainwashing that jehovah's witnesses and their literature, as well as their history.
now only being a sixteen year old born in who isn't baptized or unbaptized, i've come to find all this information incredibly overwhelming.

Hello,
It's great that you are thinking on your own... You will save yourself from wasting your life for an "organisation" that doesn't care about you personally anyway...
But your parents do and they love you. Don't forget that they are also people, and not only JWs. Your decicion will hurt them and they will not understand it. Be kind to them and, if at all possible, stay close to them.
And don't do anything untill your emotions calm down and you are in a position (emotionally, mentally and phisically) to deal with your situation.
Best wishes.

There are no non-annointed Christians (Great crowd)
by Hortenzie inthis is a direct quotation from wt july 15 article "feeding many through the hands of a few" par.
"remember, in his prophetic illustration of the wheat and the weeds, jesus warned that a newly planted field of wheat (anointed christians) would be oversown with weeds (imitation christians).
the groups, he said, would be allowed to grow side by sideundisturbed until the harvest, which would come at a conclusion of a system of things.

This is a direct quotation from WT July 15 article "Feeding many through the hands of a few" par. 13:
"Remember, in his prophetic illustration of the wheat and the weeds, Jesus warned that a newly planted field of wheat (anointed Christians) would be oversown with weeds (imitation Christians). The groups, he said, would be allowed to grow side by side—undisturbed until the harvest, which would come at “a conclusion of a system of things.” (Matt. 13:24-30, 36-43)"
The way I read it is that there are only two groups:
1 - true Christians who are all annointed (as the Bible and most Christian churches teach)
2 - immitation Christians
There is no third kind of plants in this field. So where does the non-annointed Great crowd fits???

DO WE NEED TO BELONG TO A RELIGION TO BE A "SPIRITUAL PERSON"?
by foodalls ini have been noticing people posting on this site have a "deep" spiritual desire, but don't quite know how to find it, or where it is at.. this beg the question...do we need to be involved with a "religion" to find "spirituality"...especially an "organized religion"???.
anyone that has there eyes open can see that all religion is loosing their influence over people around the world...i spent 47 years thinking i was in the "truth" being one of jw's!
and now that i am out...and looking back from the "outside"...all i see is that its just another religion...filled with all the "control-grid" stuff found in any other group.. worse yet...they are worse than other religions...so it begs an answer..is there such thing as a "true religion"???.

A couple of days ago I heard a lecture that Chris Hedges gave at the University of Toronto and one of the things he mentioned was the difference between Christianity and Spirituality:
Spirituality - inward oriented, self-centered, selfish...
Christianity (as taught by Jesus) - outward oriented, self-sacrificing, benefits other people, helpful, caring ...
I really liked that thought.

What is the JW view of the Ichtus (Fish) christianity symbol?
by james_woods inthe thread about the cross got me to thinking about this - i think i read somewhere that the earliest known christian relic was a mosaic display of the fish symbol - which was taken as a sign of christianity.. has the watchtower ever explained why they avoid the use of this symbol?.
have they ever explained why it is ok for them to use the watchtower as a symbol but not this?.

g7611/22p.28DoesChristianityHaveaVisibleSymbol?***
What about the symbol of a fish? Objects dated as far back as the second century C.E. have been found bearing this figure along with the Greek word for fish, ICHTHÝS. This is understood by many as a cipher for the Greek expression IesousCHristosTHeouYiosSoter, meaning "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior." Is the fish a truly Christian symbol?
According to TheInterpreter’sDictionaryoftheBible, fish frequently appear in ancient pagan symbolism, often apart from water scenes. "In such cases," notes this reference work, "it would seem to have symbolic significance, possibly to represent deity, power, fecundity, etc."
The same publication further notes that certain Jews adopted use of the fish symbol from pagan religious customs, adding: "It is probable that the considerations mentioned [in this regard] account in part for the appearance of the fish in the art of the oldest Christian catacombs. How early the Greek word for ‘fish’ (ichthýs) came to be interpreted as a cipher for ‘Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior’ . . . we do not know; but once this identification was made, the fish became a standard Christian symbol."
The Bible, however, sets forth no visible symbol for Christianity. Christians today, therefore, must be on guard not to adopt such a symbol. For example, watchtower-like designs appear on some buildings and Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There is nothing wrong with these in themselves. Possibly they may help persons to identify property owned by Jehovah’s Witnesses. However, at no time should anyone look upon such things with reverence, as if they were a visible sign of Christianity. Jesus taught that, rather than through visible symbols, "by this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves."—John 13: 35.
While visible symbols have always been a feature of non-Biblical religions, they were absent from Christianity at its beginning. As in the first century C.E., so today, true Christians must conform to the Scriptural standard: "We are walking by faith, not by sight."—2 Cor. 5:7.
