i read about the new tract distribution and thought to myself how should i react, when they come to my door.

finally today, after finishing my morning coffee, i got an idea!

i'll take the tract, look at it, look at them, and with a nice smile rip it up and hand it back to them with :"have a great day!

Buy everyone, I have to go now.

Thanks to those who had useful suggestions (namely Robert), they helped me to modify my approach:

When JWs come, I'll take the tract, write on it www.freedomofmind.com, and hand it back with a greeting of a nice day.

I'm not very fond of grandiose gestures (ripping the tract), anyway. And this approach will accomplish what I wanted:

1 - they can't count it as a placement

2 - they can't give it to anybody else

3- It will show them what I think about it

4 - it will make me happy

LostGeneration, I am an opposer; no matter what I say or do they will think they are right, and chosen by God; I don't want them to escape - their life, their choice; and I will not thank them for the tract, the same as I wouldn't thank somebody who gives me a flu.

Loveyourneighbor, it is hard to take you seriously. Saying you are a JW and being on this site is inconsistent, to say the least. But thanks for your input anyway - I lost my faith in God and religion because JW took my innocence. I believed them 100% and they destroyed my trust in people and their ideas. And without trust it is impossible to believe in anything. I go to church, I read the Bible, I pray, I want to believe so much, but I can't... God is suppost to give me faith. That is the only thing I'm asking of Him but no answer. What to do now?

Nonjwspouse, but "WHY?" is it disrespectful is the question. They come to my door bringing their opinions to me, why cannot I show them my opinion?

Finkelstein, I'm talking about my part of the world where almost every person has an access to the Internet (home, library, caffes, airport, subway (soon)...) If I lived in a 3. world country I would't say what I said.

The Searcher, thanks for your post. If you read the whole think you would know that I lost my faith in God and the Bible, "thanks" to JW. Beside I do not want to reason with them, I just want to make it clear to them, in some way, that they are spreading lies that affect vulnerable people (they got me after the death of my 19 year old brother), that make false statements that cannot be proven, and make promises that cannot be kept...

Still waiting to hear WHY so many people think that ripping a tract is disrespectful. And also remind you respect is earned, it cannot be demanded. And I certainly have no respect for all those lies that the WT is spreading. They make people unhappy, ruin their lives and even kill!

It is disrespectful to rip up a newspaper or add mail? I do it all the time to line my parrot's cage. What is so different about a WT tract? I am not burning Bibles or somebody's national flag. Give me a break. I feel like being back in the KH. So much hypocricy...

What do you have with the "kids"? First of all, I never had "kids" coming to my door (an elderly couple, 2 older pioneer sisters, and an elder and his pioneer wife). And of course, I adjust my "presentation" to the "needs" of the audience :)
