I'm sure that our fellow humans who happened to be Jewish will be delighted to find out that their ancient history is just a fiction. Plus lets scrap the whole idea of Western civilization because their whole world view (including laws) is based mainly on a book that is just a fiction (and some old Greek philosophy)... I wonder was the person who made the decision to label the Bible as fiction just uneducated or was it a deliberate act? Religion, philosophy, history? Maybe. But fiction? That's just ignorant and isensitive.

If I was out I'd...
by OneDayillBeFree inwhat kinds of things would you like to do if you were out of the organization?
and if you're already out and free, what kinds of things did you do that you really wanted to do but couldn't because it was against jw beleiefs?.
recently, i overheard some of the younger crowd of jw's after a meeting talking about how they wished they could have this or do that, get tattoos, play the newest video games (you know, the ones with all the violence and realistic 'kickass' graphics and such), grow out their beards for 'no shave november" wear miniskirts and dye their hair crazy colours... etc.

I'm wearing a small cross, not as a symbol of faith but as a political statement; I'm celebrating the holidays and love it; and I will vote (for the first time ever) in our municipal election (I live in Toronto and hate the current mayor's guts)...

Political correctness. What is it to you?
by Hortenzie ini see it as a form of discrimination against non mainstream ideas and opinions.
that's why i don't understand why so many hold it as of a great value.
what do you think?.

Thanks to all, I like to hear other people's opinions it helps me to expand my own, because many times people bring in points I didn't consider.

I Went To A Catholic Mass Yesterday And What A Waste of Time!
by minimus inthe priest acted as if he was the reason why people were there.
he was about 80 and totally disinterested in the affair although he married the deceased and her husband 15 years earlier.. his sermon's gist was that we need faith to accept that the reason why god has us die is so that we can go to heaven.
and that's it.. the only interesting (touching) time was when the grandkids gave testimonials about their beloved grandma.. oh, and one more thing.

When I went to RC church for the first time (for a wedding), I thought that all that "kneeling, standing, sitting" was strange and annoing, but when I came home I googled it and did some research. It's amazing how with some information things take on a different perspective!

TD - I come from a formerly communist country and I grew up during the regime. Never heard of PC until I came to North America.
QueenWitch - what do you preffer? ... Don't worry, people call me Caucasian (I hate it), and I never been to Caucasus, and non of my ancestors ever came from that region...
Berengaria - I can't. I would be politically incorrect and half of the posters would let me know I don't want to end up like Carrie Prejean, who answered honestly, and without forcing her view on anybody, a question she shouln't have been asked. The person who asked it put her in a no win situation, which wasn't fair. Either way she would have a half of America against her...
I think people should be able to voice their opinions freely, as long as it is done respectfuly, without forcing it on others, and without insiting hatered. What worries me is that many, nowdays, use political correctness as a weapon against those who dare to disagree with their own opinions.

Waiting for the JWs to come to my door...
by Hortenzie ini read about the new tract distribution and thought to myself how should i react, when they come to my door.
finally today, after finishing my morning coffee, i got an idea!
i'll take the tract, look at it, look at them, and with a nice smile rip it up and hand it back to them with :"have a great day!

Faithful Witness - I just read your post and heartily agree. That's half of my approach as well. I will tell them that I can't take it, beacause I don't want them to count it as a placement, and I will tear it in two (with absolutely no anger) and explain that I don't want them to give that to anybody else. I still think they will count it as a placement, since the tract will be destroyed .

What was your "Aha!" moment?
by Hortenzie infor me it was when i learned that gb makes their decisions by 2/3 majority vote, not by direction of holy spirit..

WOW!
I was away from the civilization for a few days, now I came back and read all these different AHA! moments and encountered some info that made me go AHA! all over again. Thanks, and please, keep it coming!

Good point Cofty, but we already have words for being " sensitive to the fact that you share the world with people who are not entirely like you" - consideration, kindness, respect, tact, thoughtfulness. Obviously, that's not what I was reffering to.

SPFW - GB is guided by their own ideas over which they vote, and when 2/3 of them agree on something, it's accepted. That leaves God and holy spirit out of the picture and proves that they are not God's channel. Simple as that.
