i was just reading doublelife's thread and what struck me was this jw doctrine "she said that since my dad died, he paid for his sins, and he'll probably be resurrected.".
so, why did jesus to die for our sins if we are just going to pay for them with our own death's?!.
Hi Stephen Thank you for the quotations and explanations. There are many at the church I attend that work with witnesses and also they are frequently called on by witnesses. They suggested I do a workshop at the church to help them reason with the witnesses on different points raised. So your imput on the board is much appreciated. Keep them coming.

so tomorrow is 'mothering sunday'.
this is the first one i will have 'celebrated' in over 30 years.
my youngest took me out for a meal today - it was lovely, just to be 'normal' and so warming to see my son feeling that it was ok to recognise his mum.
I had a lovely day with my daughter Borghater I had her to myself for the whole day she bought me lovely fresh flowers and a beautiful card [thank you darling] and we just did what I wanted for the whole day.

how do you read the board?
is it always by active topics....or perhaps all of the political threads first?
do you search for items you posted on to see if there are replies?.
Hi heartbreaker I do the same as shopaholic and then I search for items posted and see if there are any replies. I don't always have time to look at everything. And look for PMs i have made some lovely friendsalready. There is so much support on this board and I love when people have researched and worked hard to give us up to date information and answer questions.

I am 53 and have started having mamograms [not sure how it's spelt] and regular check ups with Doc. I agree with Scully do some follow up and get checked out. Good advice.
did you view them as men who truly cared about you?.
did your heart sink in fear when an elder came to talk to you?.
were the elders nothing special to you?.
Hi minimus RebeccaChi Brought back memories of my childhood. My dad had left home when I was about seven and there were awful problems before he left as he was unpredictable had violent moods as my brother and I were young we didn't understand what was going on we tended to play up and misbehave. My mum had elders round to tell us to behave. I remember being really frightened of them. There is a lot more to my story as my mum had him back some years later.

sorry, to be so blunt- for a whole day i have watched people here patting themselves on the back- we're a large army, oohh, look out wt, we might do something, well not today or tomorrow, but someday!
maybe, i have to just accept that a lot of jw's who are exiting the kh by the back door will never find a backbone to stand up to mummy and elder daddy.. jw's have a learned ability to see themselves in a better light than everyone else sees them.
ask a jw, if they are a charitable religion and they would likely all say they are, but when pressed to name a charity they will be unable to do so.
Moshe I think you are being very harsh. I feel very lucky that my hubby and I have resigned together. I feel so much for husbands and wives who have children and are fading on their own with no support, and know their children may never speak to them again or may lose their husband or wife. They need all our love and support not judgment. I am sure they are still able to plant seeds of doubt and use their situation quietly and maybe in time help family and others to wake up. Every ones situation is different.

Hi Cristopher we are all here to support you and we have all been there and your right we are not 'disfellowshipped' we are not a status we are people with a freedom of choice. we had a choice to stay faded as we where but like you Mr. Bumble and I decided not to.

Hi Leftchica Yes I agree with alanv there will be many reading this on the forum that are lurkers or sitting on the fence and will help them think. I liked how you pointed out the watchtower 'No where else to go' March l988 changing it from 'whom' to 'where'. Misleading people into thinking that if they leave the organisation they are leaving God and Jesus. This is what I pointed out to my family that I have not left God or Jesus christ. Jesus is the way the truth and the life there is salvation through him and no one else. He is our mediator. We don't have to go to the organisation for salvation.
That was a well written letter Mr Bumble and I hope many more have the courage to right similar letters and many more including our family wake up and think for themselves.
