Hi Desert Rat WELCOME I agree with palmtree67when I went to my local baptist church for the first time I was welcomed
but not love bombed they were warm welcoming and friendly. I have quickly made some lovely friends I was taken
aback by the amount they do for people locally and for each other in the church and the extent of the charity work
they are involved in. I also recommend you give it a try.

LOL this thread is a hoot the prize should go to the finger for being counselled about his beard from the platform he was almost an apostate. Any none JWs reading will surely think the witnesses are crackers.

We were counselled at my daughters wedding as they were not happy with the fact that we organised disco type music that by the way was chosen carefully so as not to offend. When the sound check was tested they complained it was too loud we explained it was because they were just testing and the sound would be adjusted but the P.O. refused to pray and say a blessing over the food. My hubby was so cross he asked him to go home if he was not happy with our wedding arrangements, only one elder offered to say a blessing even my brother inlaw refused as they all wanted to suck up to the P.O.
And all because my daughter did not want barn dance music and dancing at her wedding which everyone else had to endure to please the congregation. My husband was also counselled by an elder for wearing a bow tie to our nephews wedding and having his hair too short [his hair was receding for goodness sake]. He has been counselled for not wearing a jacket on the field service even though smart with a shirt and tie in sweltering weather and not wearing a jacket to the group and kingdom hall in sweltering weather. I've been counselled for not wearing tights [panti-hose]. In the l980's we were told not to wear Jeans or trousers even casually. My hubby has even been counselled about the type of shoes he wore. He wore a smart dress flat cap for the field service and the visiting C.O. critisised him for wearing it ironically the watchtower some months later showed a brother on field service wearing one. He was also critised for wearing a woolly hat by the elders but as he was thin on top he would get very cold so they said he should wear a smart trilby. You could not make this stuff up.

my parents sent their da letter back in march.
my mom bumped into a jw who has been a friend since 1985, in fact they were baptized the same day at the same convention.
this particular jw quit attending meetings in 1996. my mom saw her in a grocery store.
Hi welcome mentallyfree 31 isn't it ironic that someone who has not been attending all those years and would be marked any way for not being active has the bare faced cheek to be rude and ignore your parents, 'unbelievable' another example of hypocritical double standards, reminds me of our situation, we resigned and walked away six months ago.
The double standards in our family are unbelievable half have not been active for years and ignore us, we even have one who is disfellowshipped that has shunned us even though we still spoke to them and had compassion for their situation and helped them where we could. In our famillies case it's what suits but for many it is total fear of the org. or us hubby calls it 'THE BEAST'.

what is saved grace to jhw?.
if we are saved in the name of jesus why do they have to do things like go witnessing , and etc to get god to accept them when grace has already made us righteous un jesus and not jehovah?.

High Evangelist Welcome to the board, if you hold a watchtower and Bible up to a witness and ask which is the final authority most will say it is the Bible but in practice they will always put the watchtower first. I knew a JW friend who disputed something in the watchtower he was given that option and when he chose the Bible the elder said wrong answer.
On planet watchtower there is no such thing as true grace. As far as preaching the gospel the JWs think they are ,but you must remember when reading the new testament the general rank and file witness do believe they have a heavenly hope so do not understand the full grace of God. Although most witnesses will try to apply the gospels in their life they all feel they are reading someone elses letter. Because they do not understand the spirit of God.
i am thinking about living in the wilderness one day.

well, it is about six months since i came on here.. i have a stack of files and information at my finger tips that frankly i dont know what to do with!
it is almost like i have forgotten more than i learnt when i go back through it all.
sometimes i re-read stuff just to make sure i am really really sure of it all.. one of my main reasons for beginning this journey from apologist to 'apostate' was first to de-construct the power that held me since i was 10 and secondly, when i realized the truth about the 'truth' and the watchtower corporation/s, to get my kids out of it.. on one hand i want the wbts to be some distant forgotten memory but realize this probably will now not be until i feel they are 'safe' and.
hi Aussi Oz I have learnt a lot and had a lot of support from every one that comes on the board. Every one has something to give because you all have experiences and difficult problems to deal with and can pass on how you dealt with them. Also great advice because you have been there and experienced it. You also pass on information and are always ready to share what you have learned and put lincs. so that we can find out for ourselves.
This is how my eyes were opened about the lies and the 'truth about the truth' I found out about different sights you had already researched and passed on. You have all really helped me move on. We don't have to be obsessive to still give and help others I hope you still visit when you can.
