Man, it's a slow, patient process. It took me about 5 yrs. to get my mom totally out. Start HER talking about it, things and/or people she resents, etc. It takes gentle nudging & making it seem like its her idea. Ask lots of questions, & make her think you were more plastered thatn you really were/are. It'll be easier for her to accept.

My Wiccan Experience
by COMF inthis is a true story.
i do not bullshit about stuff like this.. everybody knows i'm agnostic, and most of you know that i lump wicca right in there with all the other religious beliefs as being just one more crock of lies, and have pissed off sunchild and sirona and a few others with my observations about wicca.
well, as i continue on my path of mellowship, i've mellowed toward wicca as well.

As long as what she was doing was "pure" of heart, It should be o.k, other wise, it'll backfire bigtime, especially if she believes her own hype, as even love spells done w/ selfish intent can screw you. According to "wicca" of course. The only other problem is those wiccans who are so goddess based bug me as it is as imbalanced as "patriarchal religion(and as violent). I think one of the coolest things about paganism is the recognition of male & female aspects of the divine, & the equality therein.

bad songs
by freedom96 in.
i was reading a post that reminded me of the songs that were popular but was wrong to listen to for various reasons.. we all remember puff the magic dragon being about drugs, which i hear was just a rumour.. another i remember was let it be by the beatles, which was " catholic based about mary the mother of jesus" when apparently it was written about paul mccartney's own mother.
shows what they know.. which songs do you remember that were "bad" that we were not supposed to listen to?

Undercover, the first song, let's live for today is by the grass roots. One toke over the line is by the greatful dead, I think.
Anyway, this is a big subject for me. Music got me physically beaten on more than one occasion by my mom. Tainted love, which I played at a jukebox at a restaurant, she grounded me for, although she never told me why, she just said, it's dirty & you know why!
Another hilarious time, the elders called me over, as they needed help "translating" songs, as they could'nt understand the lyrics. My friends stepdad was mad at him so he brought all his music to the elders. The first song they wanted me to look at was "God bless the children of the beast" by Motley crue, which I was happy to show them was an instrumental. Then they wanted to know about Bostons song "Foreplay" again, an instrumental. They were too stupid to just look for liner notes. They counseled him for the boston album, w/ "smokin" & "let me take you home tonight" Idiots. The Crue album was WAY worse.

Snitchers?
by Brumm ini read a few apostate books during my research as a jw...after confessing in private to a best friend that i'd read them i got snitched on and they ran and told the elders....prats!
this led to a judicial and a 6 month probation, wasnt allowed to do carpark duty (sobs) or michrophone duty (baawl) for 6 months nor could i answer up at meetings which led to tongue wagging, could go on doors though... a bit strict huh.. also know of a 6 year old who handed in her dad for speaking to apostates!
was you snitched on?

I've been snitched on mult. times, & been threatened w/ da for not snitching on others. I've even been called on the carpet because a non-jw who was working at a quick build( His dad had custody, so he rarely was exposed to jw, & was a major druggie besides ) LIED about me to impress a girl, & the F$@KHEAD elders would'nt tell me who said anything as per matthew 18, o I said fine, if you won't follow the bible, I'm done w/ this meeting, bye! They were livid, but so did'nt want to say who narced as it was obvious that he was a pretty unreliable source, that they let it drop.

GB disassociates itself!!
by lulu indear brothers:
as you have admitted, the watch tower bible & tract society did join the united nations as a non government organization in 1992 ending in 2001, and according to the following watch tower this means that by their own actions they disassociated them selves from jehovahs organization which means that we must treat them like disfellowshiped ones.
in other words they are no longer jehovahs witnesses or have any right to that name.

And please, if you can explain it, don't give me that new light bullcrap. It won't fly.

re: jw repentance
by A Paduan ini was thinking about forgiving this morning, after reading yesterday about a woman who had been fed up 70 x 7 times with jws knocking - and i thought, didn't jesus say "if your brother says to you 'i repent', you must forgive him" ?.
but then i thought, i'm sure i've read about 'backroom' judgements on this board where people were denied forgiveness.
what's the basis for that ?

Funny, the jw's don't follow that scripture, but they sure twist the hell out of it in regards to making women go back to abusive husbands, children talk to their molesters, etc. nice.

The WTS didn't become "involved" with the UN, not in any shape, form, or fashion. The WTS merely became a "member," remember?
Here is something I got from quotes.jehovaswitnesses.com. Its part of a relolutiom p;edged by all the assemblies in 1963.
WE JEHOVAH'S witnesses, met together in [City, State, Country], in one of the "Everlasting Good News" assemblies being held in a continuous chain around the whole world this year of 1963, do this day declare and resolve as follows:
5 THAT, in order to prevent the destruction of the nations by their own means in war, the nations further refused the surrender of their sovereignty to God's Messianic kingdom by setting up a society of nations, which, since 1945, has taken the form and the name of the United Nations, with international headquarters at New York city. This international organization stands for world sovereignty by political men. For years men without faith in God's kingdom have endeavored to get all people to worship this international image of human political sovereignty as the best hope for earthly peace and security, in fact, the last hope for humanity. To date 111 nations have given worship to this political image by becoming members of it. However, we, as witnesses of the Sovereign God Jehovah, will continue refusing to engage in such idolatrous worship, for we see, under angelic enlightenment, that God has smitten such idolaters with a malignant ulcer, symbolically speaking, that will spell death to them as spiritually diseased image worshipers who worship a man-made political creation rather than the Creator of heaven and earth;
How do you explain this?
