  Non-JW and newbie to board w/ ?'s...

  where do i begin...well first let me say that i have similar situations with others on this board because i am involved with someone who is a witness.

  as i stated in my title, i am not.

  i am also a newbie to this board, and i am curious as to know if there is anyone out there who was a non-jw who converted and is glad that they did so?

  Hi,

  I'm not a JW, but my wife is. It's not the people, Well for some it is but mainly it's the way the religion is run and their theology. Some of their theology is weak some is stronger some is right alot is wrong but the real reason people have a problem with them is.... The lack of LOVE in the congregations, due to all of the man made rules and regulations how the congs. ar run and the fear of outsiders there is a lack of love int the congs. The people are people some are great some really suck but that's people. I love my wife and her family, But I don't know if I would do it again. It's sad I've been with my wife 12 years and it was awesome until she started studying again. The last 8 mos have been continuous heartache and pain, I'm getting better about hiding it but my whole life has been changed. Make sure in what you do and be carefull. Love is strong but so is hate and you'll see alot of that too.

  Scriptural rebuttal to disfellowshiping

  i was thinking that since most of you have experianced shunning due to disfelowshiping or disassociation, that you might have some ideas adn scriptures to show how df and da shunning is unscriptural.

  the elders were gracious enough to provide my wife with a packet to show how df'ng is scriptural and gag loving.. sean.

  the key to properly understanding the bible is remembering that it is all about the spirit.

  whatever is spoken of in the bible no matter how literal it appears to be is intended to convey something of the spirit.

  Thanks for looking that up. I'll re read it when I get home. I always had a problem with Jesus saying that god had forsaken him and then someone told me he was quoting scripture and I was so happy and I don't know why. renewed faith or something. anyway I'm happy to pass it on. Funny coming from a worldly guy hahaha.

  Quite an interesting post. there are truths in it and in the post by A Guest. But when Christ said on the cross (stake or whatever) My God My God why have you forsaken me. He was actually quoting scripture from errr Psalms I think, Anyone have a referance bible handy?? I'm at work and don't have one here. But it is interesting to read the whole passage he was quoting and then see if he believed he was being forsaken.

  ?to attack or let go?

  do you think it is better to just live and let live with family that are witnesses, or will not confronting them with their beliefs come back to haunt you?

  It's hard to say I'm going thru the same thing with my wife. I have tried to show her things but you can't show anyone anything if they keep their eyes closed.
  I am trying to go really slow and always do it in a loving manner no more yelling and pleading. I try to show my love as much as possible and let god work it out. I told her a month or so ago Eventually we will believe the exact same thing. It might be a very logn time but it's inevitable.

  A couple of ??'s

  since my wife has been attending meetings recently, and i have been going with her i have noticed a change.. i mentioned i thought it was weird that after the sun talk and before watchtower study they would announce the number of people who had attended and invite them to stay for the wt study.

  since i mentioned this to an elder it has stopped.

  i have never heard it again.

  Can JWs attend other churches?

  i have an odd situation that came up during a recent visit by my long-time jw sister.

  on sunday she agreed to attend our meetings (lds) with us "to see how other churches do things".

  i was totally blown away.

  My wife goes to church with me and the elders hate it but I am the head of the house and If the kids don't go then they will never see the inside of a KH. She goes with the kids. We'll see how long that lasts before the elders tell her she can't go. It'll bite em in the arse cause she has a little prob with authority figures telling her what to do.
