I was an MS for a about a year, pioneered for about half of that time, and through it all kept my actual preaching to a minimum. Most of my pioneer hours were informal at work pretty casual conversation, early morning where you basically just hand out magazines, and even when I did go D2D I kept it very brief, any returns were more or less regular conversation, never pushed for studies. I only did what I had to do to get the hours and keep my position. I became very apathetic towards preaching.
As time went on, I more and more realized how little my beliefs were really playing a part in my life so why would I want to preach to someone else to bring them into this religion?

Love this interview, glad to see other people coming across it and seeing the many parallels between Westboro and JWs.
Posted this link last night in the JW Doctrine forum. Definitely need to keep spreading it around, anyone who is on the fence about following their religion/cult owes it to themselves to give this interview a listen.

Will Anything at The Convention Make Those That Are In Start To Question Anything?
by disillusioned 2 inmy husband, as far as i know, has never seen any of the gb.
with all the videos on at the convention showing the gb speaking, is there anything that would make him think wth!.
he thinks the gb are special, appointed by jehovah, that god speaks to them and imparts special knowledge.

Hopefully the Drama on Friday "woke" some people up.
The two women who questioned the validity of Jesus' healing miracles were actually extremely reasonable. They doubted what they hadn't seen with their own eyes and asked very good questions. "How do we know she was really sick?"... "How do we know the little girl was really dead?" and in response the 'believer,' only said, as if this was any kind of credible claim, "They sounded convincing." taking it on 'faith.'
The GB with that Drama basically threw it in the R&F's face, many just bought it hook, line, and sinker almost as if we were literally watching Jesus firsthand, but I'm sure a few went, "Hey, wait a minute... How do we KNOW those things actually happened?!"
The stupidity is that anyone who voices that question will be looked at by believing R&F as, "Just have faith," as if that's somehow a great thing to do, don't think, don't question, just blindly believe what a 2,000+ year old book has to say.

Questions to ask after July broadcast
by scooterspank injust wondering what questions you might ask an active jw following the july broadcast and the 10 minutes addressing child sex abuse?
or is it even worth the trouble.

I have no clue what to say to a JW to make them actually question the GB, they're mostly blind to everything.
But for myself, I hope this child abuse scandal blows up in the GBs face and comes under more public/news scrutiny, because I know I've heard plenty of JWs say, "How do people stay Catholic when so many of their preachers abused children??" Let's see if they ask the same of their own belief in the GB should this scandal become a widely publicized/talked about issue on major news networks like happened in Catholicism.

July Broadcast Scriptural Error- FDS/Helper Fail.
by Hold Me-Thrill Me inhe has inadvertently moved the timing of the beginning of the last days to the future.
this kind of scriptural error is the direct result of superficial bible reading.
according to luke 21, first comes the persecution then the wars, earthquakes, food shortages, fearful sights etc.

All JWs just accept what is said to them by the GB, doesn't matter what it is, they'll buy it wholesale. Jdub R&F are EXACTLY like the Christendom they profess to abhor, they just like to "have their ears tickled." No thinking required, only blindly follow the leaders.

Probable Discovery of Life on Comet Philae
by cofty inaccording to leading astronomers the probe philae that landed on the comet 67p last november may have discovered microbial life..... sadly neither the probe nor the orbiter rosetta are equipped to test directly but the evidence is interesting.
these are not easily explained in terms of prebiotic chemistry.
the dark material is being constantly replenished as it is boiled off by heat from the sun.

It'd be so awesome if they confirmed life elsewhere! Let's see creationists and theologians weasel and squirm their way around that! -

Why isn't Jeehoober more like Jesus???
by DATA-DOG inthis just struck me as odd.
if the bible is really god's word, and it's all real, why doesn't jeehoober act more like jesus?
jesus perfectly imitated jeehobo, right?

It's what always confused me, OT Jehoobah is a vengeful, angry, jealous, spiteful, malevolent, dictator, then in the NT he has a kid and mellows out. Jebus preaches about how cool, kind, and loving his invisible sky-pops is, a complete turn-around from the O.G. version in the OT.
Jebus hands all credit to his invisible sky dad, saying that he's imitating him, but this imitation is a complete 180 from the invisible dictator we all came to know and loathe from the OT account.
It's almost as if Jebus was Jehoobs PR Department, "Look, Dad, you're really powerful, and I think you've shown that quite, uh, proficiently..." ... "I know right? So many people I've smited! Awesome right?!" ... "Yeah, so about that, people aren't so happy about the whole being smited thing, they think you're kind of sorta, just a little bit of a dic...a dictator, they think you're a dictator." ... "Ok, and the problem is what exactly?" ... "Look, just let me go down there, smooth over some things with your disgruntled employees, lets call it rebranding, get a whole new image for you, I can sell a kinder, gentler form of celestial judgement." ... "Hey, son, I got an idea, how about I send you down to earth to make me look better?" ... *smh* "Great idea Dad..."
Jehoobs sends Jebus down to earth to become the sacrifice for us lowly humans, Jebus goes through with all of the suffering, torture, and finally death... and who do we give credit to? The grand poobah Jehoobah! Wait, what?! What'd he do? Basically nothing, he did nothing, he sent his Son, but Jebus did all of the heavy lifting as it were so yeah, kind of greedy there grand master Jehoobah! That ego from the OT popping right back up in the NT.
Jebus tried selling a Jehoobs that turned over a new celetestial leaf, but in the end, Jehoob is the same old egomaniacal creator we always knew. Taking credit wherever he can and shirking responsibility wherever he feels like it.

Why is the Governing Body pushing the very young(5-12 year old) into getting baptized into subservience to the Corporation?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think a very simple reason may be because the very young are pretty much the only ones naive enough to take the plunge these days.
with the internet available to inform people about the deceptive lies printed by the wt corporation it seems that they are getting their member from the less informed population like the elderly and the very young.
they/gb hate higher education because they loose members who get one and so they are focusing on those that are dumb enough to believe their boogie man bull shit about jehovah choosing their corporation and anybody not a part of it he will destroyed at armageddon.. also we need to consider that they view these young people as a potential free labor source so the sooner you get them hooked into baptism with the threat of disfellowshipping you can get more free labor out of them..

I always hated seeing kids get baptized, even when I was one of the mindless followers of the WTS. I took the rationale that they always said, "Getting baptized is the most important decision you'll ever make." So if that's the most important, what would be a close second? Getting married, but to get married, typically you have to be 18 (barring parental signatures) but for the sake of example, 18. So if you're not old enough to make/comprehend making the second most important decision of your life, how could you be ready to make the "biggest decision" of your life as a kid, pre-teen, or through most of your teenage years? It made no sense to me when I'd see a 7 year old getting baptized.
By comparison, Jesus didn't even take the plunge until his 30s, was he "avoiding responsibility for his actions?" as they so often love to point out in parts about getting baptized at a younger age.
But, I guess even when I was R&F of the WTS, I showed a penchant for logical questioning.
