well, its been a while since i've posted anything.
its been a rough year; i will slowly go into detail at another time.
i've been browsing threads here and there and as things catch my attention.

i am a former dub, born and raised and left at the age of 18. i was baptised at nine, aux pioneer, regular pioneer and around 16 started to see the light.
my parents give me the heave-ho the day i hit 18 (at midnight, to be precise.
) i was marked at 17 for dating a "worldly".
Cherrypye: I lurked here for many years too. Vampire is right, join in and express your mind and heart... smell the freedom of expression. It is great to continue to talk to those who share your feelings, or disagree with you.. and still come up smelling of roses and say hello!
I know there is a lot of disquiet and anger amongst many posters here.. I bottled mine for many years.. 'til it froze.
My advice to you would be.. when in doubt THROW A BUCKET OF LOVE BACK. Play the same game. It melts their twisted sense of cupboard love and legalistic justice. Love conquers all. In that way you will strengthen yourself against the acid attack both from them and inside your gut.
Cuddle up to those who TRULY love you.

jews may not eat any blood, so all meats need to be salted and soaked in a special way to clear all blood.
The difference is the giving and the taking. In order to eat meat you "take" life from an unwilling victim. The life force (in the blood) is returned to God.
If someone donates blood, that is a gift. This is, it is given... not taken. It is shared. Therefore the acceptance of a blood transfusion should be a matter of individual conscience.
Personally I find the thought of accepting an organ of any sort from another.... repulsive.
That is MY choice.

she has had it longer than me.

i've been watching my alcohol intake for dietary reasons.
i've been limiting my consumption to a small half glass of vodka, or a shot or two of bourbon.
alcohol just doesn't do well with the gains i want to make working out.
Before the smoking ban here in the UK.. I would frequent pubs with colleagues and have a beer or two.
Only now, that we are smoke free in public places, do I realise how I must have smelt like a soused kipper when I was treating patients.
I can't tolerate the smell of tobacco now and find the piquant whiff of alcohol on the breath most off-putting.
However, I love a dram or two in the evening!!

Sexuality is only a problem when it is forced on another human being - whether gay or straight. Why should anyone feel forced into relating what he/she does in private? Gay people are perfectly normal individuals, just a different genetic makeup - like left handed people.
I agree, the JW's in the main hide behind the old addage "We hade the sin, not the sinner" - not my experience in the congregation at all.
the story of the miners seems to be causing a media frenzy.
i actually wouldn't pay too much attention to the stories.
but i came across something that caught my attention because it may relate to our experience after becoming free from a cult.
The rescue of the miners in Chile has breathed a spirit of hope and euphoria into a desperately sick world. All power to them all and their families!
For a change can we please put aside our own self-pity???

can you please mention some examples of whole congregations leaving the wt?
i just saw a post of a congregation leaving in sicily in 1988, the 4 elders and 70 members.

I seem to recollect during the late '70's there was a rift developing in FRANCE over some question of loyalty to the GB, on a matter of either leadership or doctrine. I would love someone to throw light on this.
A vote was taken in all congregations throughout France. Individuals abdicated, but all but a handful in a small CONGREGATION in the French Alps defected.
Can anyone verify this story? What was the issue and did many, in fact, leave as a result of the vote?

Could it be that acknowledgment as an NGO via a library ticket bought the WT a pass card to far more than a collection of books?
By writing periodic articles in praise of U.N actions, this entitled them U.N. endorsement to expand in such countries as Angola. There, and I stand corrected by those with greater knowledge than I, literacy programs and co-operative farming has attracted many to the WT movement.
On the one hand I acknowledge everyone's shouts of Hypocrisy, on the other (as an outsider now) I warm to any efforts to provide the proper tools for living to those who need it most. The JW's are in a lose lose situation from critics here. Why not ask the beneficiaries of their efforts, in places like Angola... directly?
WT should be up front about its duplicity. Perhaps it would gain them respect in stead of endorsing their arrogance in the matter.
