Re: "Out of the mouths of JW sickos"
by Jigrigger inmy apologies are in order.
the poster on great crowd who said "here in brazil everyone is thrilled... with the news..." (regarding the wtc) informed me via email that her command of the english language isn't the greatest.
she used the word "thrilled" instead of "stunned".. i replied to her email and suggested she should edit her post to that end.

Is there a genetic component to humour?
by Jigrigger ini'm hoping that some of you who might be knowledgeable in the fields of physiology, biology, or psychology might be able to furnish some opinions as to whether man, as a species, developed humour as a funtion of our physiology.. there is a substantial amount of evidence to support the idea that humour has various positive effects on the physical body.
that makes me wonder if the human species has a natural sense of humour as a result of the species evolving ways of meeting the body's needs.. does anyone have any ideas about this?.

Carload of JWs die in crash...
by Jigrigger in...while on their way to field service.. and then they all ascended to heaven complete with their bookbags and briefcases.
when st. peter sees them approaching the pearly gates he quickly turns around to the other angels that he was hangin' with that day and says: "shhh!!!
let's make like we're not home!!!".

To SJ, Re Lot
by Jigrigger inhi sj,.
your comments on the thread regarding lot raise the meaning of the word "ridiculous" to a whole new level.
you said: " he was willing to give his daughters, which was his right to do under the 'law' they lived by at that time (and trust me, the girls would not have disobeyed...)".

What will happen to the notion of "God&quo...
by Jigrigger in...if scientists actually learn how to not only slow down but halt the aging process?
(see chappy's post re: immortality).
do you think that if this comes about many people who currently believe in "god" will abandon this belief?

Why no JW Sunday School for the little people?
by Jigrigger inthis came up with an acquaintance recently.
it has been brought up a few times on db's like this a time or two.
why don't jws limit the amount of involvement in "worship" by children to sunday school like mainstream christianity does?

The "Theocratic" View
by Jigrigger inhow many of you ex-jws can recall a particular instance during your life as a jw when you or someone you know had a mini crisis of conscience over what you now, upon reflection, consider to be the most trivial or petty in nature?.
i've got a good one for you.
i remember my mom and one of my aunts engaged in a very serious debate about whether they should feed a freshly caught mouse to the cat because it hadn't been properly bled!!!.

"...in the breezy part of the afternoon......
by Jigrigger inthis quote from gen. referring to life in the garden gave me pause to post a question to anyone who might have special interest in weather science.. if, as according to the way jws understand the biblical account, the pre-flood earth was enshrouded in a global mist under a canopy of water, where are the weather systems which are needed to create wind.
remember, for this "canopy" theory to be true we have to eliminate normal daytime heating as the cause for a "breezy" time of the day, since daytime heating would have caused cloud build-up and inevitibly caused it to rain - which apparently wasn't a feature of pre-flood life.
do you think that the necessary elimination of weather systems - in order to maintain a "canopy" - goes against well understood laws of our physical world?.
