  This elder is just plain unqualified to deal with this situation. To ignore a suicidal person and not get the health care system involved?

  the problem in the Jehovah's Witness religion is the reward system. This elder is rewarded for counting his time knocking on doors of empty houses instead if really helping a distressed member of the congregation.

  The problem with reinstatement is that it is applied so inconsistently. We had a disfellowshipped sister in our hall for years. She was living a clean life and was married to the non jw she had lived with years before. A new co came to visit, had a five minute meeting with her in the back room and the next week she was reinstated.

  these are the leaders that give counsel to married couples, to teenagers, to single girls and single boys on everything from marriage, education, sex, association, dress, and recreation..

  how well do they know their bible?

  it is astounding that someone like this creationist can have no appreciation for the scientific significance of his discovery.

  even in the face of evidence to the contrary, those who chose to believe rather than know will never forsake their ignorance.. alberta creationist discovers rare fish fossils in basement dig (full article and video).

  "an alberta man who discovered a school of rare fossilized fish while digging up a calgary basement believes the world was created by god a few thousand years ago.. it's for that reason edgar nernberg doesn't think the fossils could possibly be as old as paleontologists are estimating.. "i subscribe to the creationist position, and i believe they were laid down in noah's flood, about 4,500 years ago.

  I was listening to the news on cbc radio yesterday when this story came on. One of the announcers quipped if the fossils were from the flood why did the fish die? Don't fish thrive in water?

  Street Witnessing - did you ever do it?

  i remember in our congregation, there were a few older pioneer sisters who would start counting their time early - even before the service arrangement - by standing at a street corner and holding the magazines up in front of them and hoping that any passersby might stop to take one on their way to work or whatever.

  as a fresh, new dub, i had heard about this "street-witnessing" work, but there was only one time i ever actually saw one of these older sisters doing this.

  and even then i was shocked and embarrassed for her.... because this poor old sister was standing there, all by herself, holding up the watchtower & awake magazines, yet looking as sad and depressed as she could possibly ever look, her whole mouth was turned down just totally sad as she stood there, observing all the "dead" people walking around, hurrying to catch buses, get kids to school, get to work, etc.

  I saw something like this in the simplified last year. There was an article in the study edition about reaching out to be an elder or ministerial servant that did not appear in the simplified. I guess they don't want simple minded people to reach out.

  i watched this video and i have to say that this guy really creeps me out.

  his slow and methodical gestures coupled with with his over-annuciation of every word makes him appear absolutely crazy!.

  I see him as a fake. Narcissists, sociopaths have no feeling of true emotion. You can tell by looking for a delay in facial expression when emotions are involved.

  I see this in Lett. He is void of any true emotion. His facial expressions of emotion are all made up. He doesn't really feel the emotions.
