  one of my close pimo relatives showed me the article and spoke about today's study.

  she was disturbed concerning the points/statements within it, such as: "so, the more we get to know those in the congregation, the more likely we are to see more of their flaws.

  sadly, some have allowed the imperfections of others to stumble them.

  A certain % of the population are just assholes. I think this is concentrated to a higher level in the jw cult.

  The advice about shutting up about being treated like shit is good advice IMO. You can’t win against these types of people. Assholes will be assholes and they usually move up in the organization.

  The best you can do is learn to recognize abusive types early on in the relationship and avoid them to the best of your ability.

  Be as passive aggressive as you can with these kinds of pricks and ghost them when they try to contact you.

  A luncheon with ultra PIMI, elderly relatives

  i had a luncheon yesterday with and aunt and cousin.

  the only reason i went, and endured it, was because my father who can’t drive wanted to see them.

  as i sat there eating the lunch at the restaurant, i couldn’t help think how totally oblivious they are to what’s going on, in an ever expanding organisation of the happiest people on earth.

  from what i can see no such thing is happening.i became a jw in 1960 and remained for about 30 years and the numbers of active jw`s today in the world are far greater than they were back then.. and here in australia the numbers are much higher than they were back then .. so i don`t see that their in decline or have any worries about losing support .. don`t the numbers speak for themselves ?.

  is it just wishful thinking on your part ?.

  My old congregation is being shuttered

  i just found out from my jehovah's witness cousin that my old congregation is being shuttered due to lack of elders, less than 20 members attending, and that the congregation cannot meet their monthly expenses.. here is a congregation that was started in 1975 with less than 15 members.

  it grew to 185 members in the 1990's.

  the congregation grew so large that the elders decided to split the congregation in two.

  They are closing congregations in our circuit as well. There are now 15 congregations where 20 years ago there were 24.

  It’s the old people dying off and the young ones moving to the big city and fading.

  Canada Bethel (Georgetown) to begin renovations early 2017

  a letter was just read at my midweek meeting that georgetown (canada bethel) will have renovations done on it beginning spring 2017. the letter asked for publishers who are electricians/plumbers/etc.

  and in good standing to apply to help out.

  those helping out will be considered "part-time commuters" and will only be at the property for about 3 days a week and must reside outside of bethel and pay for all their own expenses.

  The CO mentioned it twice. The second time he told parents of teenaged boys to encourage their kids into the needed trades so they could help at bethel construction when they turned 18.

  They must have delayed the renovations due to lack of funds or COVID.

  I’m at a circuit assembly and the circuit overseer is still begging for free labour on this project. He says it will take 6 or 7 years to complete.

  They must be behind of schedule as this thread is 7 years old.

  It certainly wasn’t Jehovahs earthly organization because they fight tooth and nail to avoid paying taxes but are quick to send their members to collect benefits and give the credit to their sky daddy.

  I have an older relative who’s been a jw since childhood. This person has had so much jw induced trauma in their life due to following the rules of the religion. They have so much sunk costs for all the sacrifices they have made they will never leave or see ttatt .

  I’ve observed several closeted alcoholics in the ranks of older jws. Just trying to cope I would assume.

  The irony is that the current topic or recent topic for conversation in the ministry is about mental health.

  is this the "great tribulation" which jesus warned he would bring upon the corrupt christian congregations worldwide, (revelation 2:22; 7:14) or is it the same 1st century g.t.

  which he said would never occur again?

  (matthew 24:21).

  Maybe it will be the great tribulation as mentioned in acts 7:11, yes the great tribulation that watchtower never mentions. Food shortages and famine.

  I hate how they criticize other religions for cherry picking scriptures but are masters of it themselves.
