they are also promised a major reward (life on earth forever, or heaven) if they obey.

if a person reads the bible without JW glasses on it really contains some very useful business principles.
for example the proverbs encourage hard work and money management and discourage vices
even some of Jesus' parables contain good financial advice
most of these verses you will never find in a watchtower magazine or are taken so far out of context to support JWisms
i was wondering from any here in the know, does it seem like there is a lot of "remodels" going on?.
in the last week i had the occasion to talk with two jw's in different halls, about 10 miles apart.
they both are undergoing major remodels.
the RBC is so controlling that pretty soon we won't be able to change a light bulb without their permission.
this is why I will never serve as an elder again. We are told what needs to be done. how to do it. but if something goes wrong or overbudget, which it always does it ultimately comes out of our pockects/
if the AC quits in the middle of summer we can't just phone the AC repair company and pay the bill. it has to go through the head cheese of the RBC and he finds a "brother" to do the work. if we didn't do this the CO would find out on his next visit and give us shit at the meeting.
an elder actually puts a lot on the line financially when he is signing for the whole congregation but he has no choice in the matter other than stepping down.
another scam is remodling kingdom halls for congregations that will be merged in a year or two. the only reason that they do this is to give the publishers a sense of false hope that somehow MTS brothers will be sent to the hall. (they always send these by twos so they can spy on each other) and they have a newly renovated building to sell.
need a new microphone? can't go to best buy or radio shack and pick one up. gotta go through the RBC and pay some clown who knows f*** all about sound systems to sell the congregation a piece of shit microphone for twice the price that they sell at the big box stores

i just wanted to say that i think it's disgusting that jw's refer to people who happen not to be in their religion as "worldlies.

i suspect jw's would also not be beneath calling homosexual people "the gays" which is kind of similar.

Spiritual indigestion was a term we used to use for people who read copious amounts of the societys literature but didn't take the time to meditate on what they were reading.
was this a term used in the 1960's or 1970's cause I haven't heard it for a long time?

I missed out on overtime to attend the meeting so I made a MATERIAL SACRIFICE for spiritual gain
it seems to me with all the times being cut from talks, you could save further time and simply smash all the meetings into one on the weekend.
this would also save the need for those extra kingdom hall songs, and one trip to the kh.
with all these savings, jws could easily double their ministry..
no one went to the book studies. No one does family worship night.
I think they need to keep the drones involved in busy work otherwise they'll wake up.
they won't drop the mid week meeting anytime soon even though I notice not too many people attend anymore

growing up as a jw born-in during the 1980s i distinctly remember cutting my tounge.
i was afraid to swallow my blood, thinking that if i even swallowed one drop i woudn't make it to the new system.
