In Canada if tax is already paid on the money it is not taxable again.
Green handshakes are not taxable
i was wondering if co's who get 'green handshakes' ever report their 'income' from these jw benefits?
in the us even gifts beyond a certain amount must be reported.
jw's like to claim how honest they are, do they report all their income?.

18 carefully follow the latest directions.. do we faithfully follow the latest directions that jehovah has given us?
if so, we will not rely on always doing things the way we have done them in the past.
The best quote is from the article “Who is on Jehovahs side” paragraph 11 warning of bad associations. “Does their speech often include disparaging comments about others?”
That describes a few elders, elders wives and circuit overseers that I’ve known
does anyone else wonder at the amount of time a person immediately gains when they leave the jws?.
just today, a sunday, i would have woken up at 7, frantically taken a highlighter pen to my wt to make it look like i had made a deep study of it.
packed my stuff for meeting and ministry, cycled to the kh, joined the pre meeting ministry arrangement, rushed back for the meeting, sat through a sometimes interesting public talk, sometimes mind-numbingly dull one, strained through a wt study to which i usually had more questions than answers.
i have been watching this video.
at about the 4:40 mark, the footage shows a big black tank with two windows (they look like windows).
at the 4:46 mark, you can 2 of the tanks already in the ground and they being installing a third one.
It is obvious that they are sewage tanks. Everyone on here knows the Watchtower is full of Shit.
does any one have any info on the treatment of long serving elderly bethel servants who are retiring or virtually having to retire?
with the closing & selling off of their properties & relocation's, what is happening to their elderly servants who cannot just move away & have lived at some of their jw accommodations for so long?
many of these servants have worked for very little financial rewards & i have heard some have no life savings or superannuation retirements payouts.. shouldn't the society be paying out a redundancy sum to them?
In canada some private care facilities are government subsidized. Maybe watchtower has a scam going on.
can you imagine how much money they must make off of all the assemblies?
i counted at least 211 between this week and end of the year.
if they get paid by each city.... .
fred deftone on another thread about the tragic events at m. stoneman douglas school:.
the us constitution wasn't written for 50 states either.
the country has gotten too big and i think the solution is fragmentation.
We have the same problem in Canada. The guys running the show( Ontario and Quebec ) seem to have no clue or care to what happens in the rest of the country.
We in Alberta have more in common with Texas than we do with our next door neighbour British Columbia
British Columbia should join Washington, Oregon, and California to form a country of their own.
Alberta , Saskatchewan and Manitoba should join the states that lie between the Mississippi and the continental divide and form a country.
Everybody east of the Mississippi can form their own country.
i was baptized at 14 and finally had enough at 50 years old.
i tried my best but being in jehovah land you are never good enough.
i'll be honest in rating myself: from a low score of 1-10.. donations: 2.....donated around $80 a year...our kingdom hall paid for too many remodels and always paid for c.o.
I’ve donated $0 dollars since 2007 which is the year the watchtower bible and tract society of Canada expropriated and sold our newly renovated Kingdom Hall.
I quit the school in 2013
I go to meetings when it is convenient to do so and doesn’t interfere with work or vacation.
I go in field service when it is convenient to do so and doesn’t interfere with work or vacation.
I have zero close friends in the congregation.I swear like a sailor, drink like a fish, smoked cigarettes and eaten the brownies
I think I have a fairly low rating on the devotion scale
we were having this discussion in the office the other day and we came to the conclusion minimum wage is better because it still adds to the economy vs minimum income which someone could potentially stay at home and do nothing and still get paid without producing a thing for the greater economy.. thoughts?.
what do you think will then happen to prices?
Yes, any raise that people get is short term only as the prices for everything else will inflate to take the increased costs into account.
Not entirely true. A prohibitively high labour cost can force a business to be innovative if the market can’t bear a higher price for it’s goods or services. A perfect example of this is grain farmers in western Canada over the last 100 years. Farmers are price takers meaning that world markets dictate the price they receive for their commodities and they can’t ask for a raise.
It used to take one farmer to work 160 acres. Today one farmer can look after 2000 acres plus. The wholesale price of grain has never been cheaper inflation adjusted than it is today. Because of a shortage of labour in agriculture industry has developed self steering tractors, harvesters that automatically adjust to changing conditions and conveyors that have automatic movers. There are autonomous seeders that are coming out in the next 10 years that can work 24 hours a day with minimum human intervention.
Minimum wage increases might force the service industry to innovate also. I’m not willing to pay $20.00 for a Big Mac . Machines should be able to flip burgers better than any human can at a cheaper cost .

I have managed companies with 50 plus employees and the problem is you give one guy a raise and the next guy figures he deserves a raise also. We’ve tried bonus systems based on production but that doesn’t work either. I’ve actually caught some shifts sabatoging the next crew so they don’t get bonus.
