I would have mixed reactions to giving. We had some good times and many jws and people in general squandered them.
If someone had nothing to eat I wouldn’t let them go hungry but they might have to eat Mac and cheese. I’m not giving to those who didn’t work what was offered them and ostracized our family for working full time.
On the other hand I might need the services of a food bank.
i recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.
It’s funny to hear about selling the books. That ended in the early 90s if I remember correctly. I think we sold those large hard cover books for a suggested retail price contribution of $4.00
i was watching the local news in the background and i heard a guy talking about 3m and how florida was getting screwed.
i didn't hear the whole report.. later, i was switching through the channels and i saw the same guy talking to tucker carlson (fox news).
come to find out he is the federal cdc equivalent at the state level.

i really don't understand why states have to bid against each other for essential items such as medical supplies.
when you get into bidding wars, the consumers are the ones who lose.. put 50 people in an auction for a product and the one who wins is the manufacturer, not the ones purchasing.. my wife works for a multi-national corporation.
if she is importing or exporting goods, she doesn't determine what the costs will be; this is already determined through the corporate offices that negotiate worldwide movement of products.
The good thing about driving up the price of masks and other medical supplies is it will create incentives for current manufacturers to produce more and for other factories to retool to produce medical supplies. This might produce a glut that will result in lower prices and abundant supplies when the next wave of corona hits in October

what will the world be like once this pandemic is over?
the world has been through this before, in the form of the bubonic plague and it left changes to life still felt today, especially in regards to the economic system.
so many people dying meant a smaller working class that meant their skills and labour was suddenly more valuable which in turn raised wages.
I think we will be doing more business locally. Globalization as we know it might be over. We might end up with different global trading partners. I think life will be simpler than it was as the good times might not come back.
this morning my wife made the comment ... "we'll probably experience famine next.".
i don't know that she'd come up with this on her own.

The price of food will go up. There is not much surplus in the world and there are already signs that this will be a difficult year for agriculture.
