i have read on this site that if you write to ray, he will reply.
i was skeptical about this, so i wrote him about how much i appreciated reading the book crisis of conscience and thanked him for his time and effort in writing and documenting his experiences in bethel.
after a few weeks with no reply, i thought that i would never get one.
I must say how wonderful Rays book C of C is , for me this book was a total revelation and there was no going back afterwards . His total humility and love for God and Christ just shine through , just as much as his complete lack of rancour and bitterness . I will never get a chance to meet him , but if I did , I would want to throw my arms around him and say THANK YOU RAY .
Just wondering , does he ever get to post on here or is he in facebook or on a Christian forum or anything ?

so looking at the worldwide report , the baptisms are down , many countries are 0 growth ,publishers, hours , and studies up because of changes in reporting methods .
but just how long can the propping up of numbers happen for , before the real downward slide starts ?
a year or two tops , which will be real close to 2014 .

Megatron , I remember a yearbook a few years ago , it was full of zeros , looked awful ! Now when the countries are quickly scanned , there are no Zeros , just blanks , so it gives a better 'feel ' .
Wizard and Think about it ...Yes , you are right . I think what drove it home for me , was to see the paperback Bibles now produced . There is something that doesnt seem to sit right with me to have a paperback bible . Maybe Im the only one , but Gods word shouldnt be done on the cheap , just my personal feelings .

i always have felt that the meetings at the kh lacked any spirit , were more like an academic exercises , with boring speakers lacking any enthusiam .
there seemed to never be any holy spirit flowing or if there was , it bypassed me !!.
coming out now from this , i have to admit being a little scared by some of the services i have only heard about , where they say the holy spirit is poured out , as it is sooo different to what we have been used to .. so i guess what i'm trying to ask is , have any of you ever had an ' experience ' or received the holy spirit , and you knew for sure it was that , and can you share how you knew and what it felt like ?.

ever since i left this mind control cult i have continued to offer resistance in what ever ways i thought good at the time.. but i'm faced with the question: is it good or bad idea?
or how far should i go and to what lengths should i go in my efforts to fight this cult?.
i think being a jw for 29 years has defined a large chunk of my life and to just try to forget about it may be a big mistake.

I know exactly what you mean ! I have spent all my life 50 years , in the cult and just woken up recently and sometimes there is just so much anger , although i tell myself that this is a destructive emotion . I do have new freinds and hobbies now which have helped enomously . But I find myself trying to think of things to do to work against the Borg .What methods are you using and have they had any success ? As I still have family in , I am having to be subtle , so open to ideas if you care to share ...I think however that everyone that exits has to walk whatever path they feel is best to help them heal and move on , and that is a different thing for each person . Maybe had I spent only a few years in , I wouldnt feel so bad .

I think what disapointed me the most , was his inability to just sit down , discuss and reason with me on the subject . After two or three questions , it became obvious that he didnt know diddly squat lol .This was a life and death matter for me , and for every JW after all ..I asked him about Lev 17 :15 , and discussed the context of it , and asked him. what about 'dead blood ' as I called it ? Could a blood transfusion be ' dead blood ' as it didnt come from a living creature/person . He sat there in silence , reading and rereading that passage , then sheepishly admitted he had never read that ever before .He just didnt know what to say , and said he would check it out and get back to me . 2 weeks later he handed me a list of WT articles to look up , that failed to really answer what I wanted to know .
Shortly afterwards I discoved the UN / NGO thing and that was the start of the falling dominos .........

@ Old Hippie , Yes , I probably did ask him questions that only a medical dr could answer , but in those days , I did expect him to know more as he had offered to the group to help us fill in our forms and if people had any questions to ask him .
Is it true that one can take all the fractions apart and that is ok , but take them together and add H2O and it is not allowed ?

Of course , and on the point of whose laws we follow , I asked my mum the question .....' If the society says one thing , but the Bible says something different , which would you obey ?' She said the Society !! I was gobsmacked ! She has been a JW since the 50's and I know she will never change , but others who have said the Bible when asked this question are no longer trapped by this Cult .
