  My darn dog died

  i've had this cowdog for nearly 11 years now.

  today she went out in the sun and got heatstroke and just didn't recover.

  i gave her cpr and brought her back twice but she was too far gone.

  No, this news about your dog is important. Your dog was a family member. It is important to you. Do not apologize for mourning the loss.

  As for 'replacing' the dog, you never will. What you _will_ (and should) do, is to get another animal to love.

  I envy you for being able to have pets right now - I am living in a mobile home park where they do not allow animals (or have immense restrictions on those that do).

  As for the dog next door. If you are able to own an animal, go and talk to the neighbors and see if they will let you have the dog.

  Our neighbor had a dog chained outside like yours. My wife and I would go and feed her, take her water, and pet her.

  My wife whined on and on about the dog. I told her to go ask if they wanted the dog. Turns out they didn't - and literally jumped at the opportunity to give the dog away. That dog was greatful, and was really a good doggie.

  Possible changes forced by Dateline..?

  my best friend told me today that her cousin (l) who is a jw (although an immoral, poor excuse for a mother jw) called her to tell her that two elders stopped by her house this morning to inform her that her (recent) husband had molested an 8 year old girl in the past.

  (do not know how recently) .

  what i'm curious about is if this is an individual occurance, or if this is happening around the country.

  Well, these two 'elders' only told your friends' cousin this?

  They didn't report to the local authorities?

  They didn't announce it to the other church members?

  I mean... if it is true, we are talking a potential pedophile threat to other children.

  I am not too impressed with their actions. Sounds like a lot of blowfish 'puffery'.

  Now they can tell anyone - "Oh yes, we take care of pedophiles."

  Yeah, right. (The fella is already disfellowshipped... it don't mean anything.)

  But - I suppose... any steps - are good. <sigh - shaking head>

  I know that many of the resources are being depleted like this report says.

  It is only logical that this is so. Look around folks. If you can't see it - then you may need glasses.

  Two years ago, while looking into a more fuel economical vehicle, I 'discovered' bio-diesel.

  I made, and used about 50 to 60 gallons that summer - and ran a diesel VW Rabbit Pickup on it.

  It works very well, and uses waste vegetable oil (or fresh oil) as it's main component.

  It also pollutes far less than regular diesel - or gasoline (petrol for you folks across the pond), and even takes on a nice odor... reminiscent of what was fried in the oil.

  Some said it reminded them of barbecue. (The oil was donated free by a local Mexican food restaurant, and I suspect that the lard was used to fry chips in.)

  I haven't been able to make any bio-diesel lately, as my situation has changed, and I do not have access to the same facilities for making it. I _DO_ intend to change that in the future though, and start bio-diesel production again.

  The problem with anything that regular folks may come up with that helps the eco-environment - tends to be either 'illegal' or so costly, that it is not economically feasible for the little guy (or gal) to even consider using it.

  This would have to change at a governmental level - before we can start getting serious about conservation.

  Hmmm... the only thing that comes to mind is that skit on Saturday Night Live - many years ago... the 'Land Shark'.

  Didn't it knock on the doors? The people finally were 'onto' it... and they began to ask "Who is it?"

  "Jehovah's Witnesses", came the reply.

  Well, not wanting to be taken in again by the Land Shark, they opened the door and swung a baseball bat.

  Magazines came flying inside... it WAS (supposedly) JWs at the door - and not the Land Shark.

  PS - I do not have any 'good advice' - other than agreeing with what others have already said.

  But - from your own words - you must realize that - even though you are 'out' you are still being affected - especially if you are having to take anti-depressants. That is REALLY bad.

  Please try to find a way to get control over the situation soon.

  If they are e-mailing you - and it is nothing more than 'witnessing' in those e-mails - send a reply notifying them that you are putting them on e-mail 'block' - and DO IT!!

  Block their e-mails - you do NOT need to accept e-mails - even from family members - if it makes you ill. (Taking anti-depressants qualifies for 'being ill'.)

  Lastly - stick close to your husband. He is wiser than you may realize right now.

  Male and Female Friends

  my husband and i have had sort of a disagreement of sorts.

  he says that men cannot be friends with women.

  he says that any man that appears to want to be friends with a woman really just wants to get in her pants, and if they end up friends it's purely by accident.

  Yes, it is possible.

  I have a few very good friends that are female. One that let me stay overnight in a guest bedroom - no hint of sex - no desire to, either.

  Oh - and she is a nice looking gal, too. Just no attraction - beyond friends.

  It is cool, really - to be friends with someone like that. You are able to talk freely, and not have to worry about all of the male/female hangups that seem to aflict some relationships.

  Of course - when I was married - I was not allowed to have friends - male OR female (but especially female), but it was ok for the ex-wifey to have friends - both sexes.

  I cannot explain the reasons why... I never quite understood them myself.

  I personally make friends with gals easier than with guys - but it is, I feel - due to my upbringing... or lack of it. <shrug>

  Oh well... just my .02 worth.
