Are The Governing Body Being Set Up To Take A Fall?
by DT inthe governing body's decision to declare themselves the faithful and discreet slave appears pretty arrogant and presumptuous.
since most of us regard the governing body as arrogant and presumptuous, it's easy to conclude that is the reason that they did this.. what if something else is going on?.
remember when steven unthank was able to get the faithful and discreet slave charged in australia for failing to comply with the working with children act?

Mrs Punk left the family!
by punkofnice init's nearly 2 months now but mrs punk finally left myself (mentally diseased apostate tm) with my 2 non kingdum hell attending boys.. she left when my jw daughter moved out and they moved in together.
i don't think it'll be long before my daughter gets sick of her mum but there you go!!.
i received a call from mrs punk to say: 'i didn't leave you because of the religion!'.

So sorry to hear this Punk... just another example of how the religion helps break up families. Very sad. I really enjoy your posts on both boards. You continue to be a source of wisdom and inpiration to me. Hang in there and the best to you and your children.

JAN 2013 SHUNNING ARTICLE COULD MEAN JWS NOT AS OBEDIENT
by steve2 inin a separate thread, there's been intense discussion about how the gb is still seeking to tighten its grip on the rank and file.
the latest evidence is the january 2013 watchtower which rolls out hugely predictable statements about not doing anything to upset one's (jw) family by, for example, being in email contact with a disfellowshipped witness.
it's hard to stifle the yawns.

My JW MIL only shuns those she wants to, but she never seems to get caught by the elders. Funny how there is a double standard and some of them pick and choose the rules they want to follow. Maybe because her BIL is an elder. Whatever. Bunch of judgementat miserable people.

just need encouraging words... elders came over and breifly stopped by to encourage me back to hall
by Butterflyleia85 inwell i was kinda cut of gaurd when i saw them.
it was the two elders from the local congregation.
they said they just wanted to come over for encouragement to come back to the meetingsm one of the elders i knew me sence i was a baby and saw my son in my arms and asked how old he was.

Butterfly, you were way nicer to them than they deserved. How rude to just stop by, but that's what they like....to catch people off guard.
They came to encourage you to come back to meetings and your DF'd?
So.... in other words they want you to come back to meetings so you can be shunned.

Shunning is easy
by Paralipomenon inupon reflection over the past 5 years of being out, i've had a lot of time to consider my time as a witness as well as come to terms with my parents shunning us.. that was the biggest shock for me.
contrary to most experiences i've read, my childhood, while focused on witness matters was still pretty happy.
our family always seemed to fall on "family first, religion second".

Yeah, doing nothing.
Just like a child can go to an elder because they have been abused by a member of the congregation.
If the accused denies the accusation and there are no witnesses, NOTHING gets done.
No report to the parents.
No report to the authorities.
No help to the child who will probably continue to suffer at the hands of a pedophile.
They are pretty good at doing nothing.

Here's a convo with my JW MIL:
JW MIL: I have this fantastick book about this surgeon who performs bloodless surgery on JW's... it's all about his life. You should read it.
Me: No thanks, I wouldn't be interested perhaps D (my hubby, her son) would be interested.
JW MIL (visibly perturbed): What's the matter... don't you like books like that?!?
Me: I like different kinds of books, I just don't think I'd enjoy this one.
end of convo.

Question for elders about MEMORIAL EMBLEMS...
by Alfred inwhat is done with the bread and the wine after the conclusion of the memorial?.
is it normally tossed in the trash and poured down the drain?.
if so, wouldn't that be simbolic of throwing jesus' body in the trash and pouring his blood into the sewer?.
-
Kristina1972
.... so the witnesses sit as the emblems are passed and refuse the bread and wine.
Sound like they are saying they don't accept Christ as their savior.

Does anyone know how territories are broken down in the U.S.? Is it by neighborhoods or cities?
