  she tells me that she can use any translation to disprove the trinity and that jesus is not divine.

  i feel good about talking to her but i would love to know their plan.

  I understand that. i want know what path she is going to take so that i can be prepared. I want to be able to switch the conversation onto the WT so i can show the failings of the organization. Any thoughts?

  I will be talking with a JW soon about the trinity. She tells me that she can use any translation to disprove the trinity and that Jesus is not Divine. I feel good about talking to her but i would love to know their plan. What verses do they use? What order? How do they explain those verses? How can i best respond. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  Its interesting that you say...
  I am curious what your stand is on the welfare system? Our tax dollars are paying for young children who need food and housing. Now you already stated that you did not want your tax dollars going to a person who was making a private decision on what to do with their child. Yet how many children are being assisted by you now?

  Are you suggesting that abortion has to do with a "child" not just a glob of genetic material? I think we may have a breakthrough here! The Welfare system is an entirely different subject. Its not an easy subject. one thing is for sure, if you can not support yourself you should not be allowed to bring another life into this world. I dont mind my tax dollars being spent on legitimate needs. but to spend that money becuase people were fooling around and then dont like the consequences is absurd.

  If its a private decision why are my tax dollars paying for it. ROE is law. If dr.'s want to offer that as a service thats their decision but your argument in the first email was that bush took away funds from pro-abortion organizations. GOOD! why am i paying for it?? why should you pay for something that is private for a person. You are upset because he took tax dollars away. You can pay for peoples irresponsible behavior if you want to. I dont want to. J

  you know, A man and a woman are responsible for a pregnancy. If both man and woman were responsible then we would have no need for abortions. I support limiting ROE. Abortion on demand is and irresponsible act taken by irresponsible men and women who act irresponsibly. It takes a lot for a politician in todays time to make a moral stand the way W is. Clinton sure couldn't make a moral stand unless the poles supported him doing it. Any stand against abortion in todays media climat is sure to have a swift rebuttal from pro-abortionist. If a man and a woman dont want a pregnancy, then find something else to do for entertainment or take the correct precautions. An innocent life shouldnt be the sacrifice for 2 people being irresponsible. I want you to note that i believe the man and the woman are to blame. I am not woman-bashing.

  i have gone round and round with my wife about jws and disfellowshipping.

  our marriage, which wasn't so hot for the last year, is pretty well shot now.

  i try to explain to her that being dfed for simply disagreeing with the wt is offensive to me.

  Did God Change?

  i had a discussion with some greek orthodox members recently.

  i was pointing out the disparity between the brutal behavior of "gods people in the o.t.

  and the pacifistic way in which jesus was to have behaved in the n.t.. they accounted for this by explaining that god changed during that time.

  God did not change,

  Jesus tld us that the OT could be summed up by the commandments to love God and your neighbor (Mt 22:37). Jesus also says that God desired love and mercy rather than sacrifice (Mt 9:13, 12:7). I will give you some examples... (Ezekial 18:23) "Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked...and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?". In Gen 15:16 God gave the Amorites hundreds of years to repent but they didnt. Noah preached for 120 years to no avail before the flood (Gen 6:3). If you really study the OT you will find that God is very patient who gives people many opportunities to change their ways. But God is a just God, so he could not allow the wicked to continue. Jesus actually is the one who made some of the strongest statements about judgements that we can find in the Bible. In Matthew 23 he called the religious leaders of the day hypocrites and false leaders and told them that their punishment was eternal banishment from Gods presence. In Matthew 10:34 Jesus says "Think not that I have come to send you peace on earth: I came not to send peace but a sword". Wow that sounds more like OT to me. He also says that His word will cause a father to be against his son, a mother to be against her daughter, and a daughter-in-law to be against her mother-in-law. So God is the same throughout the Bible. J

  what scriptures do the jw's use to back up the practice of disfellowshiping/disassociating?

  what scriptures can be used against it?

  Thanks pure and db. I appreciate your responses. In talking to a JW friend of mine, I asked him about the org judging people. He said only Jesus judges people. Well, if a person is DF'd or DA'd hasnt the org senteced them to anahilation? your thughts?

  Is there no scripture that would suggest we counsel people and love them, not turn your back to them? J
