Truthseeker, your rampant speculation with JW overtones is entirely amusing.

If We Were to Take the Flood Account Literally..
by Yan Bibiyan inthen i cant help but come to the conclusion that everyone who died (like 99.999% of humanity at the time) was doomed from the start.. if god directed noah to build a flotation device with very specific parameters, god must have known exactly how many people, animal species, plant etc, would be in it.. what if people actually listened to noah and thousands upon thousands turned up waiting to enter the ark?
god must have known that only so many people will listen and obey instructions.. no to mention that noahs message didnt really reach that many people.
at that time how many people could have heard it?

From Richard Dawkins' Preface to "The God Delusion"
by AK - Jeff inhttp://www.infoamerica.org/documentos_pdf/dawkins10.pdf.
the word delusion in my title has disquieted some psychiatrists who regard it as a technical term, not to be bandied about.
three of them wrote to me to propose a special technical term for religious delusion: relusion.. .

That delusion exists only until it is removed. No, not the God delusion, the no-God delusion.
Yes, believing in silent invisible sky people is totally rational.

For instance, it is my understanding that in the deep past there have been multiple die offs and geologically speaking "sudden" resurgence of many species.
Well, they would have to be rocks or soil or water for a geologist to study them since geology is concerned with the planet, the oceans, vulcanism, tectonic movement, etc.
I'm not saying the flood story is literal only that we do not know the genetic makeup of species who long ago were yet to have, let us say, evolved, to the various finite species we have today.
What do you mean, that there were more or less species in the past? I am not sure what you mean by "finite" species we have today?
Is it so off the mark for a Christian to believe that perhaps in the deep past the species were not as differentiated as they are today?
We have a pretty good record that shows that they were.

Why did the crowds call for Jesus to be crucified?
by cameo-d init seems that in the folklore, it's the evil politicians and the evil priests who get the blame for the crucifixion.
in actuality, tptb put the choice before the masses of people.
it was the people who really decided.

Barabbas was an insurrectionist against Rome.
Huh? Where did that come from?

Soldiers of Jah
by cofty ini would like to propose an ethical dilemma for those who believe in the divine inspiration of the bible.. in the following scenarios i am not asking you what you would have done but rather, what you hope you would have had the courage to do.. scenario 1. you are camped on the east side of the jordan waiting for orders to cross into the promised land.
moses is nearing the end of his life but he has some unfinished business to take care of before he hands over to joshua.
he announces that he has had an instruction from god to take revenge on the midianites before he dies.

And, times were much more brutal then.
So they were. That doesn't in any way make things right the way it went down.
There seem to be quite a fair amount of people who don't see him like this at all.
Hey, you can find a ton of people that like or justify or ignore ANY whacked out behavior, kid :)

I went to the superstore and walked out with a five pack of Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro #4 for $15, a five pack of Mayorga Torpedo maduro's for $12, a keychain punch and a hygrometer for $35.
I'll let you know how they smoke.

But we, ourselves, do not have all the facts to be able to pass judgment.
Tec, then that's the Lord's fault for not providing enough info to not make him looked like a crazed maniac.

If you don't believe Christians are idiots, and thanks for that, do you have a one word description for Christians that I could take with me then?
I am not sure if I can sum it up in a single word as that depends on what type of Chrisitan you are. PScac is very different from Aguest and she is different from you and you are differnt from tec and she is different from Syl. I like Syl a LOT although we often get a little crossways, I love tec, she is an absolute sweetheart. I like BD, I like Shelby, you are mostly a good bunch of people. If I can indulge upon your generosity and use a phrase rather than a word, I would have to go with "lacking in critical thinking skills in a very specific area".
That's not to say lacking critical thinking skills, just that they are turned off or muted when it comes to God. That's not a criticism, just an observation. I know well that in certain areas my critical thinking skills are muted as well.
On a side note, WTF is up with Eli tonight? Two interceptions in less than five minutes.

Uhh...okay. I don't think you understood but as an idiot Christian it's likely I'm wrong on this.
I read and understood perfectly. I don't think Christians are idiots at all, just that their beliefs put them a logically untenable and indefensable postion.
