The reason the worst elements are in charge in a lot of those places are because the worst and most violent elements tend to rise to the top. Iran is a perfect example. Most of the people are fairly laid back and regular, but the worst elements have risen to the top and siezed the guns and control. Same with Cuba.

I have not seen anyone denying that. What I have seem is people denying that both are intrinsic problems in today's Islamic community.
Among Muslims at large, it's not. Among certain segments, yes. But that is a small minority (which unfortunately, produces large results). The problem with accusing the entire group and marginalizing them is that you then begin to push otherwise normal people in the group to the fringe, creating more of the very problem you are trying to solve.
