"in this matter."
leaving, that phrase makes me smile. Total JW cult lingo, have used it myself.
i know there are other topics related to this, i started one earlier similar to this but here goes anyway.. so i skipped a couple of meetings of the co visit to hang out with some "worldly" friends and we went out of town.
i think some of my closer "friends" at the hall found out from my family and now i am dreading going to the next meeting and hearing their encouring "where were you!?"..
it fills me with anxiety.

"where were you serenitynow?" Me- "I was somewhere minding my own business." That's how I answer. Or as my father used to answer when we tried that "where are you going" stuff, "I'm going whereever grown people go."
It is not encouraging for people to demand where you were and what you were doing on any given day. If they were great close friends they would know where you were already, and probably been with you.
it can be sandwiches to meals, etc....thanks!.
I like to stuff the turkey's cavity with chopped onion and celery. And the best thing you can do is to cook it in an oven bag to bake it (and then put it in the roaster of course). That's how to make sure the meat stays moist.
my wife received an email from her friend, a jw.
i suppose it is just a small thing but it highlights one of the things that really pisses me off about the jw religion.. after talking about some situation she comments:.
"i know it's always hard work in this system, totally rubbish.
It's sad. They have such a pessimistic view of life. Once I got free of them, I became alot more happy and content. They are just unable to appreciate the beauty present in everyday life.
she sent me about seven magazines including the april 15, 2010 study cult edition.
it's the one with the new definition of generation.
i wonder if she's read it yet.
I get kind of depressed that my aunt is contributing money for the rags and paying for the postage.

Hey doublelife I can relate. I receive one of those lovely care packages by mail regularly from family too. This is a good way to strike up a conversation about the generation issue. You know that with JWs they assume all our info is off the net, so they shut us down whenever we start talking about anything negative. But with the study article in hand, you can go to mom and be like, "what's this about?" That's what I did with my mom and the problem I had with the Nov 15, 2009 private issue. I wonder why our JW families keep giving us the secret WTs. The secret issue is supposed to be for those who are indoctrinated on a regular basis. I'm so inactive that when I look at them now, all I can see is mind control. That's why they don't want the public to see them.
5 trust in jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding.
6 in all your ways take notice of him, and he himself will make your paths straight.. .
i called on the phone the other day an ex-jw friend of mine.
Even though I no longer believe the bible to be inspired, I do still like the book of Proverbs. I think overall that it is practical. I think that perception is a large part of how a person views certain passages. About not leaning upon your own understanding, I have always thought of that as an admonishment to seek God's view on matters (as a JW), but I think that it can also mean as individuals we don't have all the answers, and maybe there is something to be gained by listening to the wisdom of others. I don't take that scripture as meaning to turn your brain off, but rather to open your mind and be open to wisdom from sources outside oneself.
Now the Song of Solomon, definitely not for children, along with Revelation, and alot of other books.
after visiting with a couple of jws over the weekend; and for the first time talking about my true feelings about the org with active jws other than immediate fam, one of them mentioned something interesting.
when i talked about how with the constant changes to beliefs that i find it impossible to believe that the gb can be guided by the hs.
so one of the jws said, "other religions change doctrines around too.
I thought people still believed in purgatory. Isn't that why they get babies baptized? Or am I confusing that w/something else?
so jesus regularly attended meetings for worship (they don't specify which kingdom hall) and may have been thinking about psalm 40:6-8 (in the new world translation i suppose).
7 jesus showed his keen interest in spiritual things by regularly attending meetings for.
worship.
It's not your facts(viewpoints) that I have a problem with Psychotic. It is your insults that I have a problem with. Try verbalizing your opinions without launching personal attacks; that is what truly intelligent people do.

So one of the JWs said, "other religions change doctrines around too." Now he and I are both born-ins, so it's not like he's been to various churches, and of course as a good JW, has not done independent research on the specific doctrines of other faiths. He couldn't give me an example. It was always my understanding (as a JW) that churches don't change their fundamental beliefs; sometimes they change their views on certain things like birth control, homosexuality, etc, kind of changing with the times.
What do you all know about this? Is it a common occurance for clergy in different faiths(Christian and non) to switch beliefs/doctrines, or their understanding of the scriptures? If you were a Catholic, but didn't go for years, could you just walk into a church one day for mass, and not miss a step?
Has the WTBTS somehow told JWs that other religions change doctrine to make their constant changes seem not so bad?
