YES! Thank you for saying it. I was recently talking about this very thing with a couple JWs. When I was in that whole explanation of why god allows bad things to happen, etc sounded fishy. Of course when you're in you dare not let anyone know that a doctrine sounds stupid.

Does anyone else find the whole Jah V Satan universal issue absurd?
by Aussie Oz inwhen i was 'in', that of course was a big thing, and i well knew all the scriptures and resonings behind it.. not long ago i saw a u tube video that took me into deepest space from the hymalian mountains and back in again.
what struck me was the shear immensity of just our own universe, let alone the rest of the known one.
i realized how tiny tiny nothing this little planet is.

"Witness Watchdog needs a life."
I agree. What is the purpose of this? This person should be out enjoying lfe, no he/she just wants to troll the net for people who dare to leave the cult and are trying to save others. Sad.

Prince of Persia - anyone ever hear a JW say....
by sd-7 in"remember in daniel that the demonic ruler was called 'the prince of the royal realm of persia'?
this movie [or video game] has got to be demonized!
" just curious.

Seriously, what is not connected with the demons in JWland?
Maybe I'll ask my mom about it, since she is always talking about the book of Daniel.

Hard question
by dgp ina question for all those who managed to do it.
when you realize that it's unrealistic to expect someone in the wt to ever leave, and when you see the damage it does you to keep hoping, and to keep trying to get them out, how do you manage the pain?.
what do you do when you know that someone has spoiled the only life that person will ever have, yet you can't reach to them?.

The assembly mating game
by mutinyinheaven ini haven't been on the board for a while, but i thought you'd dig this.. it was taped last week at a reading from my novel.
the first part is about the hot girls at assemblies and how we'd sit through doom and gloom talks.
part 2 is a scene where gabe is found out for having a girlfriend.. http://vimeo.com/12066637.

"(in my case, the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit- "
CHG we probably were there at the same time! My feet used to ache from walking around on the cement floor in heels. I'm still surprised I never fell down the steps there. I kind of missed the Silverdome when we stopped going there.

"Being a true JW"
Can you please define this?
And these people who you say are happy, what makes you think so? I'm not trying to be funny I really do want to know. Alot of JWs I see seem to be tired out, just barely making it.
"I've been quite a happy JW myself in the last 3 to 4 years or so."
What changed that made you happy lately?

I do miss that feeling of community. Like you could go anywhere in the world and have that common ground. They did teach me to not be afraid to stand out, and to stand up for what you believe in.

Anxious about meeting...
by gutted ini know there are other topics related to this, i started one earlier similar to this but here goes anyway.. so i skipped a couple of meetings of the co visit to hang out with some "worldly" friends and we went out of town.
i think some of my closer "friends" at the hall found out from my family and now i am dreading going to the next meeting and hearing their encouring "where were you!?"..
it fills me with anxiety.

Hey gutted, I will admit my responses take sass and attitude to pull off. Maybe just reply that you were busy, and do not give anything else. Growing up a friend's mom, if she was being persistently questioned and had given all she was going to give in the way of an answer would say in this situation- "I said that I was busy, now that is the end of the matter!" And would say nothing else, and she is a soft spoken meek JW, but you knew she meant business.
