  Convention Weekend

  everybody in my area (jw's) is at the convention this weekend...and i'm not.

  i didn't realize how really great i would feel when this weekend came.

  i'm not sitting in a crowded coliseum, on uncomfortable chairs, sweating in my nylons, creating new blisters on my feet, juggling note books and bibles and wishing all the people around me would disappear.

  example: gravity is real.

  because if 607 bce is wrong, then so is 1914 and 1918 and 1919. very simple.

  so if we cannot trust secular research, then we can definitely discard the date of 607 bce.

  but was'nt his year of autumn 1914 when the harma should start based on pyramydology alone?.

  I'm a little fuzzy on the details now, but didn't John Aquila Brown use the 2,520 years calculation in his book "The Even Tide" in 1823. I believe that to be correct. This would have been 20 years before Russell was born, and some 40 years before Russell started preaching.

  BabaYaga - The preaching work is actually the LEAST effective way of making recruits. Other religions dwarf JW, and they have never done a day of door to door preaching. As for my experience, most of the time I was knocking on empty houses.

  I didn't read all the comments here, just the introductory post, so I apologize if this is a repeat.

  I recommend Carl Oloff Johnson's book "Sign of the Last Days".

  All of the signs Jesus mentioned in Matthew chapter 24 are actually much better today than they have been in hundreds of years. Except earthquakes - these have basically remained fairly constant for hundreds of years.

  It's a very enlightening book. One of the best ones I read after leaving.

  The only long term solution that I see to their problem is converting the literal 144,000 to a figurative 144,000. Joyous new light, everybody will rejoice, and back to the fields to preach. Everybody wins.
