  i was hungry for the story behind the scriptures and thought i was getting it by reading them.

  i think it was beneficial but once i got to chronology i started to throw up in my mouth.

  did you read them and what do you think now of the information your read?.

  i actually had to do this twice in the past 2 weeks - and it's really shaken things up!

  When a JW can truly admit what disfellowshipping is, it can very enlightening. It can also be the start of a wake-up call for them. Here's how it truly goes:

  "My son/daughter left my church, so therefore I can't have anything to do with him anymore. I have to basically treat him like he is dead. Hopefully he will return to my church one day, and we can be reunited."

  I remember when they deleted me as a servant. It was one of the happiest days of my life.

  Nothing more hanging over my head and no more meetings with the CO. And all the pressure was off.

  A Quick Couple of Questions To Ponder on "The End"

  so, will the jw's be ridiculing the people who believe the world will end in 2012 and at the same time be proclaiming that the world will end at any time real soon, possibly even during 2012?.

  is the new "generation overlap" thing designed to get members focused on imminence yet also get them past 2012 and 2014, the one-hundred year anniversary of the birth of the last days?.

  Honestly, the "wicked and twisted generation" of 1995 completely unhooked them from a time period. It makes no sense to tie back in to a literal generation now. But I guess they needed a way to "unofficially" set a date again and stir up urgency.

  A book on Jeremiah huh? I won't read it now. I will wait a couple of years until they release the updates, like with the revelation book. If I read it now, i will just be filling my head with "old light". I will wait until the hoy spirit clarifies it.

  Thanks Old Goat. What's amazing is that Chareles Taze Russell influenced our lives probably MORE than any person in the world. For those who have lived decades as a JW that is. It's truly unbelievable that a young man working in a clothing store in Pennsylvania could go on to lay the basis for a cult that would command the strict obedience of millions of people worldwide.

  I find the history extremely interesting. Thanks for the link. This is new to me.
