dysfunctional beliefs of a jehovahs witness apostatethe jehovahs witness organization is a cult in that it:.
censors all of its members reading material through the watchtower society.prohibits its members to refer to any other media (including internet) or alternative scriptures for answers to important questions in life even gain a better understanding of the witness scriptures.
this means no individual interpretation allowed.prohibits member dissent from the orders of each kingdom halls network of elders, which is why child abuse has been kept hush hush and has been rampant within the organization.prohibits its members from interacting with non-witnesses, beyond the extent of trying to convert them.threatens its members with disavowment should they consort with non-witnesses beyond the extent of trying to convert them (that includes any family members who have left are not a part of the organization).threatens its members with hell-sentences should they invoke disavowment (which is explained below) and this is some serious brainwashing.read more .

ode to the 192 page book.
once i wondered what life was all about.
i struggled with faith, i struggled with doubt.
This is awesome.

when i was a kid in the 80s i remember the wt actually warning people about going to see "e.t.
" apparently this little alien's healing powers were a real threat to true christians, causing them to forget what jesus did back in the day.
i also remember the wt dissing "star trek 2" because of the little creature that khan inserted into the ear of chekhov.
I was glad when we reached the point two years ago as dubs that we went and saw whatever movie we wanted to. It didn't matter the rating.

we were always told not to throw away literature, so just what did we do with it all?
i know that i would sneak it into the bin for recycling quite regularly.
my parents kept all the magazines for over 20 years in ritz boxes in a cupboard, they all went yellow and smelt wierd.
I just threw mine away after they were 2 to 3 months old.

when you were a witness, were you happy or miserable?.
i feel like i was pretty happy for over 20 of the 25 years.
only the last 5 years and especially the last 1-2 years did i really burn out and just wasn't that into it.
Thanks everybody for your comments!

come on guys... it wasn't all that bad was it?
there were some fun times and some very funny things that happened in those car groups.
please share.... my favorite story comes from my daughter.
An elderly sister in our hall lost her bowels in the back of a new minivan. It was awful. I felt bad for the owner of the van.

"so is the nearness of armageddon from jehovah's perspective or from ours?".
"why is the majority of the memorial talk dedicated to bringing in more members?".
"who were the true worshipers of jehovah in the 17 hundred year gap prior to russel?".
Simple questions: "Can new light be wrong?"

not only is there a change in the way the magazines for field service are distributed to publishers.. there's news of a change in distribution of the study issue of the wt.
from now on a publisher will.
get them like they get their kms, that is by having their service groups overseer hand deliver them.. another way to exercise control for control's sake and make the sgos busier and feeling more and.
Perhaps they are doing this so they can personally see you when they hand it to you. Thus, they can whisper to you in your ear when the new date for Armageddon is when they find out. This will enable them not to print it as hard proof anymore like 1914 and 1925. They can hand you the magazines and lean in close and say "brother, it's very close. Be sure and do family worship next week and attend the meetings."
LOL

i know there are other topics related to this, i started one earlier similar to this but here goes anyway.. so i skipped a couple of meetings of the co visit to hang out with some "worldly" friends and we went out of town.
i think some of my closer "friends" at the hall found out from my family and now i am dreading going to the next meeting and hearing their encouring "where were you!?"..
it fills me with anxiety.
You could say this:
"Yeah, I was on the phone hookup for part of his talk. I really enjoyed it. But I got disconnected twice and missed part of it."
If they pry to try and see if you really were, you can reply with this:
"my favorite part was when he was discussing staying close to jehovah. The way he mentioned the last days really brought it home. I like his way of motivating the friends."
That's in all talks that all CO's give. So you are covered either way.
