What is the good news of the kingdom?
For me, the REAL good news of the kingdom was finding out that all of this WT propaganda is lies and that I never have to go back. That was the best news about a kingdom that I have ever heard.

i talked with a relative today, and he's a devout ms/elder and is now going to elder's school & special meetings .
jw: (silence).
jw: (more silence and hem-hawing).
I never thought of recording a KM school, because frankly, I could barely sit through it the first time. I definitely didn't want to have to possibly listen to it again.
LOL

i thought it would be interesting to discuss the things we believed as jw's, but were kind of embarassed about and didn't tell the public about, since it would make us look ridiculous.......... one thing i can think of is the idea that only jw's will make it through armageddon.
everyone else would be destroyed.
i would never tell anyone that even though we all believed it.
When my brother (LeavingWT) left JW in 2008, I not only cut him off, but I sorta cut off ties with a lot of non-JW family. Because I knew they would ask me if I had seen leavingwt lately, and deep down I knew there was no way to explain how he left my church and I cut him off. I thought about it one time, and imagined myself explaining this to somebody, and I knew it would sound nuts. So I just stayed away from all my cousins that I knew he was close friends with.

yes the elders made another stop to continue to try to get me back to the meetings.
my main argument with them has been the incorrect dates.
607, 1914. they said i need to stop focusing on dates.
My former elders came by a few weeks ago. I decided to talk with them, just for giggles. I told them I don't believe this anymore and I will NEVER be back. I even told them I have shared my new beliefs with a few others, when these have asked me. They just got this dazed look in their eyes and didn't really know what to say.
Haven't heard from them again.

The facts seem to indicate that it's 7 million people under destructive mind control. As for me, I fully believed it when I was a JW, for 26 years. All of my friends REALLY believed this was God's organization. We believed that there was no alternative, and there was no where else to go.
As long as everybody follows directions, the perfect cult enviroment is maintained. Then again, everybody has to follow directions. If they don't, they are kicked out. So anybody that gets sucked in, from the rank and file all the way up is trapped in a cult. Unless they allow somebody else to help them to awaken, they are trapped.
Further, everybody that I know who has figured out this is a cult has left. They may have remained in for a time, because of family or other reasons, but they certainly were not actively recruiting others into it.
Blondie is right: It's all in the BITE. It's really just that simple.

i've gotten a girlfriend.. i've grown a nice beard.
(still in progress).
i no longer am paranoid about being caught doing something "wrong.".
Merry Christmas to you!
every year the wtbts asks a few select top elders / cos to "rate" the brothers in their circuit to see if they qualify to give talks on district conventions.
it would seem that the society are concerned that some brothers are being a bit faddy in shaving their heads.
extract:.
The funniest assembly was when I saw a pretty good speaker interview a lady who was wearing crocs with a dress.
Hilarious. LOL

the holidays can be tough for a few years while you're adjusting.
the guilt of participating in, and enjoying anything related to the holidays can be overwhelming.. you don't have to celebrate any holiday to be a non-jw.
that is entirely up to you.. you may feel like xmas could never have any meaning to you because of your history and pagan roots.
Well said, Rebel8. Thumbs up!

no brag, just fact---i was the most requested speaker in my hall(s), i was often requested to give talks in kh's all over the place, not just in my area.. i personally enjoyed speakers who taught you something, not merely recited something.
we had a district overseer, paul illingsworth, i loved his style.
he delved into bible words of the original greek and hebrew.
In Mississippi, we had a handful of great speakers around the state.
Larry Scott was very motivating
Gene Edwards (Florida) was always great.
Ellwood Johnson was a hard hitter that had big appeal in Mississippi.
And I have a talk by Lee Waters (Bethelite) that would almost make anybody sign up for pioneering if they were committed to the cult.
