anyone wanting or needing a hug, check in here!.
quickly now, before the supplies run out!.

Could this be classed as internet love bombing? Will I soon be required to study JWN threads 5 times a week and commit to believing everything the administrators write - even if they change their policies from time to time?

"dollar auction' theory - it goes like this.... .
the setup involves an auctioneer who volunteers to auction off a dollar bill with the following rule: the dollar goes to the highest bidder, who pays the amount he bids.
the second-highest bidder also must pay the highest amount that he bid, but gets nothing in return.. .
Agreed. A lifetimes investment is hard to turn your back on.

"sd-7 is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses.".
i always imagined this day would come.
i'm not sure exactly how i knew.
Christopher,
I have read your posts with interest. Thank you for giving us a window into your life during your weeks of turmoil. Maybe in the course of time you can re-read them with a smile and wonder how a group of men who cared so little could manage to cause so much conflict in your life. Standing up to them took great courage. Leaving the borg inevitably has a fallout with family/friends - the borg's parting gift for all your years of service. Hope it works out with your wife.
Congrats

sorry, to be so blunt- for a whole day i have watched people here patting themselves on the back- we're a large army, oohh, look out wt, we might do something, well not today or tomorrow, but someday!
maybe, i have to just accept that a lot of jw's who are exiting the kh by the back door will never find a backbone to stand up to mummy and elder daddy.. jw's have a learned ability to see themselves in a better light than everyone else sees them.
ask a jw, if they are a charitable religion and they would likely all say they are, but when pressed to name a charity they will be unable to do so.
Moshe - some clarification please. What do you mean by fader?
Are you saying that a fader (description of how one leaves the borg) cannot later become an apostate without being disassociated or disfellowshipped?
What about the faders who have left the Borg that take anonymous action?
What about the faders who are still in and have subversive chats with people - doing the work of an apostate from within?
Your post seems to be either a battle cry trying to stir up some action or a judgemental stereotype - the kind that I've heard a thousand times from the platform.

march 11, 2010, updated 7:00 am </form>this and that - 10 march 2010, 9:11 am </form>jehovahs witnesses offer free bible instruction in englishsanto domingo there is now help available for english speakers with a spiritual inclination here in santo domingo.
starting january 3, 2010 and continuing every sunday thereafter, christian meetings are held in english at the salon del reino de los testigos de jehova, #33 avenida francia on the corner of galvan, in the gascue sector of santo domingo.beginning promptly at 7:30 pm the congregated english speakers will listen to a 30-minute bible lecture.
Used to sit in on a study when the learning of English took more way more time than the learning of bible truths. Great cup of tea - warm house in a nice neighbourhood - guaranteed 1.5 hours. He was a great bloke - recommended getting married although his wife was in another country - said she was a really fine woman - cost over 50 camels - literally. I think we that translated that as "pretty fit" in English?

...and i think it's starting to show.. i started a thread the other day about being hounded after several years of having successfully(?
) faded.
i've been taken aback a bit the recent developments but i'm making a new strategy...one that depends more on sticking to my guns and laying the cards on the table.
Wobble, about 6 or 7 years ago as a result of the data protection act they got us all (in the UK) to sign a document saying we were happy for records and information to be kept on us "for the purpose of shepherding". I think this is a one off action just like ticking a box on many websites when first registering. If this is after your time then they can probably keep information without your written consent until the point you object. You have the right to see all data stored about you either in Bethel or the Congregation. You can also ask for this to be destroyed. They will charge you an admin fee.
This is a great thread. I agree with metatron about draining morale because I've seen the impact faders have but only if they were well respected and at some point really active. If a "weak" JW fades, one who never really gave answers or never did much FS or didn't ever have responsibility isn't going to make a hard core JW think twice. It's easy to categorise them as weak, or if someone gets DF'd then they did something wrong or were arrogant - all their fault. But it strikes a hard blow if a popular elder or mini or pioneer just disappears off the scene - even if it takes a few years - they are missed.
When I slowly faded and then stopped suddenly some elders made a concerted effort to contact me. But most seemed to want to leave the door open for me, especially as they had no idea why I was going. Moving away made it much easier. Almost every fader from our cong moved away. It's very hard to leave behind what you've been used to doing for decades and in many cases your whole life.

after i decide to leave the jehovah's witnesses one day,i will not look for a new religion.
the damage that the wts has caused me leads me to mistrust all men and religion.. i trusted these men from the wts .
i gave up 35 years of my life to find out that the wts is just a printing and real estate corporation disguised as a religion.
I regularly worship at the alter of freedom - in fact some might say that I do so actively although I don't submit a monthly report to demonstrate how active I am. I would worship more but work gets in the way - not that I'm trying to justify or judge myself.
I can't recommend what others should do - except to avoid being stuck as a JW

There are likely to be as many undiscovered/unproven/known but not worth a recall faults with other cars.
leavingwt has it spot on. Improve your odds by driving a bigger car with the latest safety features and drive it carefully.
A JW is three times more likely to die as a result of refusing blood during childbirth (totally avoidable) than in a road accident. (Ok mixing American stats with Netherlands stats of 68 in 100,000 JW childbirths 1983-2006).

for a period of time when i was a jw, i lived with a family of jws.
they had 2 young children under 12. the family were good friends with another jw family who had 3 children under 12. .
so were talking about 5 kids under 12, this will be important later.. .
You did no wrong. You did right. For any JW to expect you to break the law - especially one which involves the safety of children should fall into the territory of council from the elders (not obeying supperior authorities, holding life sacred, stumbling others - etc).
Someone I knew was convicted (wrongly) of driving without due care and attention (they were in a crash with a very old lady who survived - but only just) and despite a jury twice not reaching a decision the elders took him off as a MS and put him under restrictions. Did he cause the accident? no - he actually took evasive action - but the elders acted as it had been notorius. I wonder who the elders would have pointed the finger at if you'd been in an accident and one of the children were hurt.
I think the generation thing is a factor. My dad often skimps on safety because "that's what they used to do in his day".
In my own experience I've found many JW's cherry pick what legal rules they follow or not - more often to do with how others in the cong will view them rather than what Jah would think or indeed what is actually legal/right!
