both parents are jw, they did the pioneer serve where the need is great thing.

I'm very sorry you have had to go through this. Very hard for your mum but tougher on kids because that's your start in life. I'm still amazed that being respectable and loving at the KH is considered far more important than what goes on behind closed doors in the family. Whitewashed graves springs to mind.

It doesn't sound like any possible outcome can compensate for what you have had to go through so don't be disappointed if you get continued lack of justice. There can be no real justice in this case.

Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings

today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.

prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.

he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

If all I am going to hear at the boasting sessions is how important the boasting sessions are, they are not all that important after all.

Yup some irony. A meeting talking about how important it is to be at that meeting when all the people who it is aimed at are not there to hear it.

Having to hang around for ages waiting for the person you were giving a lift to.

The speaker not turning up, the WT being done first and taking ages and then the speaker arrives after all.

Having to think of different phrases to use when giving prayers.

Getting to the meeting a few minutes late after having worked a 12 hour day and arriving straight from the train without having had dinner. Suffering the evil glares from people who don't work and expect you to share your possessions with them.

Hearing speakers talk knowledgeably on subjects like running marathons and climbing mountains when most of what they say is tosh.

"Guilt trip" from a Sister

this morning i heard a voicemail left by an old sister from my last congregation.

as you may know, i just disappeared from the kh meetings almost 2 years ago.

I love the transparency of the message. Some Dubs try harder to hide their motives but basically still come from the same angle. As invasive, rude and nasty as that message was - it's just a reminder of what you left behind.

UEFA Champions League

Bayern have a good chance to get to the final as I think the German League is still tougher than the French. I'm not writing off Inter as Mourinho will play defensively and hit Barca on the couter - and Barca can leak goals. Will still be a big ask to keep Messi & co away from goal despite a sturdy Italian defense.

Does anyone have a meeting on the night of the final and be forced to make excuses to watch it?

How Many Here Actually "Handled The Microphones"?

Yup. So used to annoy the hell out of me when only one person had their hand up at the front and were clearly going to be picked to answer, but the deadhead holding the mic would stand at the back and only start to amble towards them after they were picked. The WT always went overtime when certain bros were on duty.

One rather c0cky bro used to play games with the mic moving it away from your mouth during the answer to see if he could get you to lean forward and drop your WT.

here it is approximately $2.69 per gallon.

i heard in michigan it is $2.99 right now.. outaservice.

What Actually Helped You Leave The Organization?

after seeing some threads about how some think that being direct (like danny hazzard) is the best way to get people out of "the truth" or being very subtle is most effective----i was wondering what exactly made you leave the organization??.

were you more impressed by websites that were informational?

what really got you thinking to leave the religion and its mindset?.

I hadn't seen any website about this but knew from observing others who had drifted and moved away how to do it. Whilst I'd slowly stopped to believe it (or never had in the first place but was unwilling to think about it) and hadn't agreed with most of it and was bored silly by meetings I didn't want to bring children up in it and felt I needed to be strong for their sake.

If I'd been on JWN 15 years ago I'd have left much sooner and felt a lot better about myself through my 20's. Subtle is ok but most JW's discuss all that is rubbish about it in a subtle way and still keep going to meetings. I think direct is better.

Do you think you are forever damaged by the Watchtower??

i've been out since 1998 so i've had time to learn how to be normal.

i've had time to get over the pain and hurt of shunning by those who claimed to love me.

i really can't blame them because my mom was born in too.

I built up lots of bad habits as a born-in. Apart from not having any post-16 qualifications I also had become experienced at presenting badly. I have managed to undo what I learned in the Ministry School and learned to deliver punchy, factual presentations that people remember. I've a long way to go but had great feedback from being in front of hundreds of people as well as small groups. Still nervous as hell and self doubting but I'm sure most people are??

Education of any kind is great and really good for moving forward. I can't say if having been a JW is still damaging me or whether it was actually my parents. I've wasted a lot of time in it so still grateful for my freedom and that I have worked my socks off for years to catch-up. Life is now great.
