Assembly talk admits that meetings are boring.
by easyreader1970 ini made a post yesterday about some of the stupidity that has been flowing from my most recent assembly program.
one things i forgot to mention was this:.
hd television, video games, cell phones, and other interactive electronics - all of these things are very highly stimulating to the eyes and ears and kids (and maybe some adults, too) get used to receiving this type of visual and auditory input.

I always found the colour illustrations in the WT far too distracting. It would be far better to have no illustrations so that we could spend the precious time at the meetings listening to the upbuilding comments of our beloved brothers bringing praise to the fine work the faithful and discreet slave class do for us each and every day.

Loyalty Keeps Us Morally Clean
by sd-7 ina rebellion had begun.
in moses' absence, the israelites built a golden calf and engaged in idolatrous reveling.
the clamor of their immoral festivities was clearly identifiable as improper.

You ever thought of starting your own cult?
...I just don't have the charismatic presence to pull it off...
cyber-cult? Then you'd never have to grace anyone with your presence.
The writing committee are without reproach because they're anonymous but they're stuck in the 19/20th century. You could continue your anonymity. Think where the WTS will be in 100 years and beat them to it. You could have a great following via your SD-7 Kindle with weekly downloadable sermons, daily reminders for the days text and, if you wanted to be just as controlling as the WTS, GPS tracking so the whereabouts of all your flock could be monitored at any time.
Great thread

"weak" witnesses
by bigmac inwhen i was an active jw, 40 -odd years ago in the uk, in the 2 congs i went to, we had a fair number of brothers privately called "weak".
this was implied if a bro ( or sis )didn't attend most meetings, answer up, do field service, talks etc.. they weren't reprooved for this ( as far as i know ) but "marked" so to speak'.
is this still the case?

They are 2nd class citizens to the elite. Some of those weak ones just had doubts and were doing the minimum to scape by or were fading. I was certainly considered weak for more than a decade - it was all an act. At the same time I was doing amazing things at work or with hobbies. Truly a double life.

Amazing re-connect with some old friends that are now EX-JW
by troubled mind inlast night i had the privilege of meeting up with a whole family we use to be friends with years ago in the congregation .
they had all come back from across the country to attend a family wedding .because of facebook i was able to get in contact with them once again ,and make plans to see them when they were back in the area.
this is a family that left back in the 1990's .

Great how the internet can connect people. I'd love to catch up with some people and families who I know have left.
I recently emailed an ex-jw I discovered on the net. They had a tough time in the truth and thankfully have made a huge success of their life. They haven't replied - I think because I'm from that chapter in their life they want to forget (they've excluded any reference to being a JW in any interviews etc).

Write freely and only during editing worry about changing names and places. Good luck and be sure to let us know how you get on - I'm sure you'll get huge support here.

Help me...
by rafreuter ini wish this weren't the way i greeted the board.
i've been lurking here for about 2 years now, but was unable to really interact because of limitations of my ipod browser (you can't post from there) and the parental controls on my computer.. .
well 2 years later, i'm a big boy, turned 18 and moved out.

Hi Raf,
I wanted to leave the truth when about your age but first needed to leave home to get out of the control of my overbearing parents. When I moved out I felt so lonely even though I was living around new friends. I tried to hang out with other people all the time, wanted to get into a relationship even though I wasn't ready for it and spent lots of time doing hobbies.
I was still going to meetings at that time but it was a massive shock to leave home even though I didn't have to contend with "losing my family". I think fragile was the state that most described it.
When you're not sleeping it has a negative impact on your wellbeing, perspective and will aid confusion. You've done a brave thing to stand up to your family and religion and state you want to be honest in how you live. This has clearly been a shock to your system to see your parents so upset and that you seem to be the cause.
You haven't done anything wrong. Your parents have been programmed to view your reasons for rejecting the truth as worse than a criminal act. Even leaving home on good terms is still very hard for someone of your age. To leave and have this huge disapproval hanging over you is going to cause you distress.
If you choose to go back, do so on your terms. Go back but stand by what you believe in which is that you do not want to go to meetings and that you will be the person you are. Just be honest. Maybe rather than going back you can just spend some time with your family.
I hope goes well for you.

The IBSA is the charity that runs the UK Bethel and received legacies of £1.25m in 2009 although the legacy relating to E Heffer may have been left in previous years.

There are only 10 people left alive on this planet who were 13 or 14 years old back in 1914.
By 2014 there'll probably only be 10 people left alive who were 10 years old in 1914. That's all that will be left of the generation I spent years telling people would by no means pass away.

What if JWs are right?!?
by brotherdan ini know this is a pointless question, but what if this happened:.
you came home from work one day, sat down, and turned on the tv.
there is a sudden announcement that the un has banned all religion.

But this is my point. 7 Million people believe that this VERY THING is going to happen.
A handfull made it up, thousands printed it, tens of thousands preached it from the platform, hundreds of thousands believe it, millions go along with it but aren't really expecting it.
If they're right then those handfull got very lucky.
