have noticed in my brief time here that the disobedient (jws who associate with us here) are the nastiest, most antagonistic examples of what it is to not display christian love.
i am sure most are ambivolent, confused, angry about the cult thing, without a full awareness yet.
but i suggest, to all of us, that we will learn mroe from each other by maintaining respect for one another.

Are we even sure they are witnesses? I mean anyone can sign on here and say whatever they want. I dunno, I am not convinced, the ones who I have read who claim to be witnesses don't even talk like a witness would...I have my doubts as to their status, or if they even have status. If they are witnesses they didn't read the same books I did when I was one.

Why not simply remove the offending phrase, and have the pledge be what it was -- a testimony to one's patriotism??
Actually it's not the Under God part, which everyone thinks is the reason. But actually for Witnesses it's the whole not giving worship to anything other than Jehovah, and it's the same for Muslims, nothing is greather than Allah, and all praise must go to Allah. Not some flag, or country, I'm not sure but there are probably other nitty gritty religious groups that feel the same way, and removing Under God, isn't going to change their views on it.
Point being, they'll never make it manditory,--will NEVER happen! And frankly I wouldn't want them to. It's disgusting to have forced obidence and subjection on any level...which is what I think it is. Besides have you ever watched a bunch of kids say the pledge in school? It's a time waster. They have no idea why they are doing it, the words mean nothing to them--it's not about patriotism for them, and it's not explained to them. So if you are looking for cohesion under a flag--making kids say the pledge by itself isn't going to do that.

i was just sitting here, reflecting on my day.
the last month has basically been pretty crappy for me and a rollercoaster of emotions.
i knew i was in bad shape when my landlord told me i could have absolutely no pets in my apartment.

im not sure you get the same feel from the doctored up articles in the wt, but listening to the couples was just maddening.. there was always at least 3 or 4 couples that would say the exact same thing: well, i wanted to be a missionary but couldnt go without a partner and my husband/wife was in the same predicament so we got married and here we are.
I remember trying to match the couple up first, who I thought went with who, and then looking for the answers, it was like a cheap game show during the meeting...and there were a few couples that were like "whoa damn!-good thing they married each other, no one else would have had them"

i know this subject has been covered numerous times before, but the board constantly gets new people.. how many here still attend meetings, go in service, etc.

Actually the other day after having a long discussion about religion with my boyfriend he said "Holy crap-it's amazing you turned out as normal as you did"
Hee hee...that's usually how I feel, most people are shocked to learn I was raised a JW because I seem so "normal"

You completely missed my point, and instead go on the defensive, I am trying to get information out of you...not give my own. If you are really looking for the meaning of life, the Witnesses can't give it to you either, so perhaps you should put your efforts elsewhere.

I think a more important question is why do you want a faith so badly when you can't even explain it? I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, but you really do need to look in depth at some of these issues for yourself, before you question others behaviors...
