"I was just reading my text and I thought about you all. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you." - We looked up the text and WOW! We've never been happier in our lives and we still have our spirituality...hmm...yet that can't be true since the text says it isn't possible.

dubs - paradoxes from hell.
jesus said his yoke was kindly and light.. dubs brag their religion is the "hardest religion in the world.".
the bible tells children to honor their parents.. the wts tells children to betray their parents.. if dubs really live in a "spiritual paradise," why do their lives have to be threatened to stay in it?.

One time we were having book study at the house and I was the conductor. My 3 years old just let one rip during the meeting! Everybody just kind of snickered and snorted...then I looked up and saw my mother-in-law sitting next to him and it just hit me....I said "excuse you....(mother-in-laws name)" needless to say everyone just bust out laughing and it took us about ten minutes to even start the study back up!
It was great!
every friday at my job, i hear the usual.

As a witness, I did look forward to weekends because every night during the week was taken up. I viewed the weekends as the "lesser of two evils", what a great way to view your life. I never liked service or the big rush to get to the meetings by 9:00 a.m. "Easy like Sunday morning"? Obviously Lionel Ritchie wasn't a witness. :) But, the only nights we had free were Fri - Sun. So that's what I looked forward to.
EVERY day of the week had something "more important" taking up time that could have been with my wife and children. (I personally think you spend more quality time with your family in front of the TV for 2 hours...over spending that time at the meeting... At least at home you can talk and goof off as a family and not constantly demand your children BE QUIET and SIT STILL... OR ELSE!!! OH, HOW I HATED THAT!) Now... I love weekends!!!!!! The kids are in sports so easing into Saturday just doesn't happen, but we enjoy the time we have together with other parents who are ENJOYING their families as well. But here is the weird thing....I find that I actually LIKE weeknights now too!! Not as much as Friday and Saturday...but I don't detest Tuesday or Thursday nights any more.
I always wished I could have the life I have now...but always thought I had to "wait 'til the new system". I'm so thankful I decided to check into my beliefs...and love people, instead of follow rules that have no clout!
last year i gave the memorial talk, this year for the first time in my entire life i won't even be going.. i guess that missing the memorial will definitely put us on the elder's radar, so i am expecting the elders to be concerned an interrogation.

) and it seems as we were talking the thought came up that many of us when exiting the mind control of jehovah's witnesses we really come to appreciate the freedom to think how we want and be able to have access to other views which helps us to have a broader scope , or broader world view than just the tunnel vision of the wt society.
I would say....
1. Being able to use my own mind to decide if something is for me and my family....(NOT everyone else's consciences)
2. The Present (every day I have with my wife and kids)....It seemed like before I always looked forward to the future, never really enjoying the moment I was in. That's funny because growing up my dad said things like "Don't wish your life away...thinking about the future" (like every kid I always wished I was older) the irony is he was a JW elder and didn't really believe that....because everything he taught us was about something in the future (paradise), sacrifice your life now for another one in the future.
I'm so glad to be done with all that!

What would life be like w/o the sound of children playing? One elder tried to tell me that eventually there wouldn't be any more kids because the earth would be full. I told him that if that's the way it would be then it would be empty and not very interesting....It really wouldn't be living now would it?
No young ones, no old ones - I guess that's not right, you just wouldn't be able to pick them out of the crowd as they will all look 20 years old, no ups, no downs...a bunch of know-it-all's running around everywhere telling everyone how much they know. I guess the JW's have an advantage of being able to do that already, huh? :)
there is always at least 2 or 3 really crazy persons in the kingdom hall.
the kind of person that when they raise their hand the speaker on stage knows he's taking a gamble if he calls on them - yet he can't discriminate.. anyhow, i remember one time a younger brother was doing sound and one of those crazy brothers was about to give his 5 minute talk (i forget what number that was, prior to them just reading scripture).
the crazy brother slipped the young brother doing sound a cd and said "play this when i get on stage".. well, he gets up on stage and all of a sudden hawaiian music starts playing... the man on stage just starts dancing.
One time we had a "local needs" part on the service meeting about swearing/cussing...and how we shouldn't do it. The brother said, "words like sh*t, D*mn, Hell, B*tch....should not be used" he actually said the words. I had a smile on my face for the next few months from that one.
We also had a brother who gave a talk on masturbation ....his speech counsel point he was working on was Gestures. I never would have been allowed to be on stage again had I given that talk and worked on that point. Whew!!
We also had an old elder give the "Godly view of Sex and Marriage" talk one Sunday when I was in my late teens and then again the subject of masturbation was addressed. The elder giving the talk said that he'd even heard of married men having a problem with masturbation, then he said "Brothers if you have a problem with this, what does it say about your wife"....you could actually hear the air go out of the hall after he said that. :)
