funny times growing up a witness
by strymeckirules ini was raised from the age two as a witness by my new recruit parents in 1981. i was born in 79.. i didn't like being jw, and that didn't mean i was a saint.. and my parents were fanatical and still are.. i have an an older sister and a younger brother and we are all 2 years apart.. my brother and i were a riot.
mischeivious, rambuctious, hyperactive and not afraid of nothing.. we had games over the years.. like singing in british accents during the songs(and during bible reading at family study) and screwing with the word just loud enough for each other to hear.. we used to have armrest battles when we sat beside eachother.
pushing elbows until the other slipped and got in trouble.

Feb. 15th WT - WT Society says DFed Ones are Lawless- Just Like Demons
by flipper ini would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".

My apologies in advance as I have not read every post. The WTS is always flip flopping and let them continue, they look crazier by the minute. One thing that comes to mind:
The WTS teaches it is our "christian moral obligation" to take care of our family in need. What are we supposed to do when an elderly parent or sick family who is d'fd or da? I know I am there for my family NO matter if they are a JW or not. That will be a very hard WT to sit through and not give my opinion.

Inside the Patterson Commissary - PHOTO
by VM44 inin the patterson commissary.. .
can one pick what one wants?
does one have to pay for items?

If you are a visitor you pay by the honor system and place your money in a "contribution" box. Bethelites add up (honor system) what they owe and I think either punch in a # or slide a card and their account is debited.
The commissary has some items really cheap and some that are expensive. For instance their boxed cake mixes/brownies were $2 a box. If a sale was down the road at the grocery they could snag some for a $1 box. There is a Dollar Store next to the local grocery store and most stock up on cheap canned goods there.

Thanks for the update and you were being prudent to notify the school. That guy was a$$ to even comment like that and I hope they find him and straighten him out. You cannot be too cautious in this world. Where is that hug emoticon.

If I take a poll of my friends that are active JWs and not on JWN etc. I can confidently say at least 80% are not homophobic and if gay slurs are said from the stage people in my area are humming about it and not happy.

I would be surprised to see a JW who wasn't "homophobic".
As an active JW, I am not a homophobic and embrace their right to love who they want. years ago when the lifestyle was not as accepted I did not understand nor was I around "open" homosexuals. I was probably more shy around them because I did not understand or know what to say. After being very good friends for ober 12 years with a co-worker my eyes were opened and I love ALL of my new gay friends.
I get uncomfortable if a hetero couple shows alot of PDA, I would feel the same with a homosexual couple. The WTS preaches love for all and while most JWs can be homophoic they are not following the teaching of love. We are all sinners according to the bible teaching. How can we judge someone who is attracted to a person of the same sex?
Lav is VERY loving and caring to all. I have the utmost respect for him and wish we lived closer. I would love to get to know him and his family.
