It was odd. One point I had a "what the heck" moment when after his alibi the young man's mother said he was exonerated AFTER the other young girl confessed what the "wordly" girl was up too. When she was confronted by her parents she caved and said she made it all up. I would think that after his alibi......case closed.

I would stand on the headship ground. Did you ask your wife who "read" these things you posted? I would want to know and nip it in the bud.

The effect we are having on the Watchtower is HUGE
by jwfacts ini was inspired by a recent thread i know i aint gunna crumble the wt, but a girl can dream to look at the effect we as individuals are having on the watchtower society.. 3dogs1husband quoted a story to show that even helping only one person is worth it.. it is encouraging to note that the one person you may have helped has lead to millions being helped, due to the power of compounding growth.. compounding growth is well illustrated by the rice on a chessboard problem.
if you start with 1 grain of rice on square one, and double it to 2 on the second, 4 on the third, 8 on the fourth, by the last (64th) square there would be 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 grains of rice.. likewise, if you help one person out of the grip of the watchtower this year, then next year you help one more and they help one, in a few years that is going to have a formidable result on the number of jehovahs witnesses.
look at the following statistics.

I did not read all the posts but I know here in Massachusetts alone there are 7 congregations in the past month that have announced they are merging/combining. The criteria is less than 70 publishers for each congregation. So the congregations that share KHs are merging as of Sept 1st if they fall under the criteria. Some will have 12+ elders in each newly formed congregation.

Lakers Kobe Bryant -- blood procedure puts him at DF risk?
by FatFreek 2005 init may be a month old news but we're just hearing it.
citing four unidentified sources familiar with the situation, the los angeles times on friday reported that the lakers superstar had a procedure about a month ago that is a derivation of platelet-rich plasma therapy.
prp procedures are less invasive than many surgeries involving the knee.

Ditto, never knew Kobe was a JW.

I have a question on the Circuit Accounts Scam thread
by gubberningbody ini didn't want it to get buried and i'd really like to know.. so i knew pretty much what he was saying was true, but what i don't get is how the creative accounting works.. i mean you have to show expenses on the ledger - and i mean real expenses, like the co/do expenses along with receipts.. you have actual costs for the power coming into the building.
the paper supplies and cleaning supplies.
the vacuum cleaners and mops and other sundry items, and you have to have receipts for all that.. i also know that when you made a "donation" it was off the books at the circuit level as far as accounts were concerned.. but how is money not being accounted for?.

Snakes you are pretty much on point with your explaination. Our assembly hall is owned for a SAD they throw figures in excess of $12,000 for the daily expenses. I cannot understand HOW people cannot question the dollar figure. I sit there and think bullsh*t and grateful I handle the monies so as to make sure nothing is donated for the assemblies.

my take on this weekends Assembly
by TheLoveDoctor inadgrpid:|servtype: google_ad_section_start to the making of many books is worrisome as the bible says yet the last time we received a ypa book it was 2008 volume 1, 2 now this weekend we received volume 1 revised.
wow and so many are excited about us killing so many trees to repeat the same thing over and over again.
i need to vent a bit and could easily get on to many issues of wtbts and its goober body.

LoveDoctor the disturbing thing is at "your" convention site the WTS does not pay to rent the facility. They pay for only utilities used since they are considered an "educational organization". Most publishers are not aware of this and the WTS likes to keep that piece of info to themselves. Makes me sick when they inflate the expenses.

Battle of the Bulge
by LouBelle init's one of those battles that can be very difficult to beat.
i do not blame my jw past for my weight gain, i just didn't do anything about it because one day i was going to be perfect and it didn't matter.. in past years i've lost weight, picked up again and usually more, and then lost again.
in those times that i applied myself i genuinely was sincere and thought my mind was made up.

YAY Loubelle you go girl! I look forward to reading your blog. :)
I am right in the same boat and would like to lose some weight. I need to get my butt in gear.

New here - hello!
by sickandtired ini can't believe i'm actually posting here.
i've been lurking for a while and i've been having doubts about this being the "truth" for years and sometimes feel really stuck and hopeless about my situation.
i'm married to an elder (who is 110% jw) and i was for the most part raised in the "truth".
-
CuriousButterfly
Welcome SickandTired your life mirrors so much of mine. :) I too am married to an elder and have major doubts about the religion. Ironically over the whole generation change.
I am going to send you a PM, it is the little envelope on the top right of your screen.

Gay "Knocking" director Joel Engardio writes again on shunning by JW family members
by MrMonroe ina previous thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/200592/2/joel-p-engardios-article-on-jws-washington-post has covered an earlier story joel engardio wrote on gays and witnesses.. in the washington post (nov 7, 2010) he writes again of how his jw mother grieved for him "as if i had died" when she learned he was gay.
engardio notes:.
"among jehovah's witnesses there is no easy exit for the adolescent who skillfully parrots theology at age 10 or 12 and decides in his late teens or early twenties that the religion isn't for him.

One of the things that I find disturbing with the WTS and their shunning policy. Minors should not be getting baptized, that decision can ruin their whole life if they decide to take another spiritual path.
