Everett Rodrigues is a DO now. He served in MA/RI until last year and was reasigned with his wife Pat to I think NY.
I like Everett but my family knows him VERY well especially when we was a teenager. He did drugs/loose conduct etc. Personally I do not care, all of us did stupid things as a teenager into early adulthood. What is disconcerting, if you did not know Everett when he was young you would think he was a "model" JW as a kid. Never once did he lead on about his sketchy childhood was like, heck ALL can learn and realize we are ALL human. His Mom raised those Rodrigues boys to think they are Kings and waited on them hand and foot. Some of Everett's brothers are so messed up with drugs and alcohol they have been into rehabs up until late last year. Those poor guys need help and Everett has nothing to do with them which is so sad.

sex offender wants chaperone to kh
by nelly136 inhttp://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/aleqm5jvfmefxqjo3kj0srix3w_8n5jtkwd9geetog3associated pressconcord, n.h. a new hampshire sex offender is asking the state's highest court to allow him to go to church with a chaperone.the case of 35-year-old jonathan perfetto of manchester marks the first time the new hampshire supreme court is being asked to rule on whether a probation condition that effectively bars church attendance violates a person's constitutional rights to religious freedom.. perfetto was convicted in 2002 of possessing child pornography.
a condition of his probation is that he have no contact with children.
a lower court denied perfetto's request to attend jehovah's witnesses services with a church elder acting as a chaperone.. the new hampshire civil liberties union and perfetto maintain the chaperone would eliminate any risk to children.

I read this and felt sick to my stomach. IF this guy ever were to be allowed into a KH I was attending my butt would be out the door. Why open the congregation up to potential problems. There are KH conference hooks ups for the shut ins etc. IF he truly wants to find God then he can do that calling in. IMO he lost his right when he molested and was sent to prision. His own mother thinks he needs to be locked up.

So, you blew your chance to go to college because of JWs? Don't give up!
by cabasilas ini got the jw "bug" as a teenager.
witnesses called at our door when i was nearly 11. my parents are deaf and i was the oldest hearing child, the default interpreter for them in that era before relay services and professional interpreters.
they had no interest in jws, but it started to spark an interest in me.

I hear you, that was issue I had being raised as a JW. There was no option to go to college if you father was an elder, he would have been removed. I do not fault my parents they did what they thought was best for me. My job situation is good depsite the econmony but always in the back of my mind I would be "SOL" if i got laid off and tried to find another job with no college education.

Today's Drama
by 5thGeneration inwent to the convention today.. don't know if this was posted on but one thing bugged me above and beyond.. it was how the drama interjected modern day theocratic terms.. 'the elders want the brothers to leave jerusalem...'.
'i just got back from preaching and so-and-so wants to start coming to the meetings...' .
really disingenuous.

Do not even get me going with the last SDA when blogs and social networking sites were discussed. They basically said what kind of example are you to your children or young ones in the KH if you have a blog or frequent a social networking site? I thought this is a bunch of BS. So I should not have a beer since this would deem not setting a good exampe? These COs need to get a life.

I just go with the flow. My husband does not give me grief he is a good man and elder for years. He knows my doubts with the WTS. I do not have a problem with their teachings people will believe what they beleive but I have a problem when the cult like mentality creeps in. You cannot talk to this person, you cannot read "apostate" websites etc. The minute you start telling me what to do and there is NO biblical backing I ush back. Nice elder's wife? ;)

Becoming officially recognized as Annointed
by B_Deserter ini've heard there is a very secretive process the wts uses to determine whether or not they'll consider someone "of the annointed.
" from what i've heard it's a very rigorous set of questions.
can anyone here confirm this?

There is no test but I do know the Elders speak with the supposed annointed to see what frame of mind they are in. Funny since the generation viewpoint changed the partakers have gone up.
There is a sister in my KH that just started partaking and while I love her she is a little odd. She had a breakdown years ago went through extensive therapy. Of course I question it, but who am I to tell her how she feels?
