Facebook condemned

my wife told me that at the last meeting, the elders announced that youngsters going to the skateboarding park were no longer to have any privileges in the congregation.

this is to prevent jw youngs to be rounded up if a drug raid was made at the skateboarding park.. also because of individuals requesting that they be friends on facebook that contain bad pictures, that anyone with a facebook account will automatically have their privileges removed.. sounds like the pharasees protecting the people by adding additional traditions upon them.. .

Of course, this varies from congregation to congregation. There has been no official condemnation of Facebook/Myspace/etc. from the Society. But I expect more local needs talks, mentions from the platform at circuit assemblies, etc., in the coming months and years.
That is so sad, and I see it all the time. Depends on what KH you attend and how strict are the elders to allow certain privileges.

Do JW's now avoid "live" persons they meet in the field?

lately, i have been encountering several jw's who are out placing flyers inviting folks to the upcoming district conventions.

i am usually out for my 10:00 - 11:00 am lunch stroll and when i walk the streets of nearby residential areas, i have been seeing several jw's out in service (i counted 12 yesterday - 8 women and 4 men).

in 4 instances over the past 9 days, i have placed myself in a situation (such as sitting on a park bench that is along the sidewalk they are on or stopping my stroll before they get to me) and each time they just smile and say hello and continue on their path.

As a JW we are supposed to go to every live body we see. Even if we are out in FS in a neighborhood. That is odd they did not approach you, then again I do not. I do not like bothering people. FS is not my thing..

for a circuit that included several of my friends.

i remember hearing my friends complain about what a tool this guy was--and these complainers weren't just "lowly" publishers--some of them were elders and pioneers.

I remember he would corner certain ones in the congregation and basically drill them until they were in tears trying to get dirt on other people. He wanted to talk to my wife and I stepped in and told him that no such conversation will take place, turned and walked away.

Just ask him about his divorce and why his wife left. That would shut that jerk right up. He is nosey but does not like to divulge his past. He knew I could not stand him and I still have the same sentiment.

New Generation understanding tied to Freddie Franz

also don't know if this has been mentioned previously.. our speaker yesterday, gb member br.

pierce, tied the overlap theory directly to fred franz's lifetime.. did anyone else catch this?.

evidently (and i'm paraphrasing), anyone anointed after franz's death in 1992 is not of the 'generation'.. 5th.

No. He was simply saying that those anointed in the past 20 years are not part of THE generation that will by no means pass away before all these things occur.

forty-four-year-old jose orduno has been booked on suspicion of criminal threats, possession of a firebomb, attempted arson and other charges.. the jehovah's witness kingdom hall in citrus heights wasn't damaged by sunday morning's fire.

Illegals are allowed to lead Hall activities? I've read here before that they can become baptized publishers, but not MS's or elders.

(The reporter in the video says Orduno's on immigration hold via INS so he could also be deported.)

Illegals are not allowed to have any responsibilites (even handling a mic or the literature counter etc). They are allowed to be baptized and the Elders are not required to turn them in.
