24 in the article " let the law of loving kindness safeguard your tongue " notice these 2 points where the wt society tries to manipulate jw's minds regarding how they use their tongue in showing alleged " loving kindness ".. the 1st point concerns being a " helpful " witness and showing alleged " loving kindness " to a fellow believer if they are turning astray from wt principles.

why does the society make a list of recommended hotels for convention goers?
do they have business deals with these hotels that they do not tell the rank and file?.

They try to secure rooms for ones who attend at a discount rate. When rooms are blocked for the JW rate this ensures most will be able to obtain a room. Personally I think this is ridiculous there are some hotels not on the "list" that are nice and MUCH closer to the convention. While some hotels are discounted I have looked at some of their regular rates and I am maybe saving $5 per night on some.

i called the legal department and spoke to an older brother about the child molesters in my hall about a month ago.

If I understand correctly, the elders who are listed as treasurer, secretary etc could be held liable.

You are criticizing with a huge brush stroke. Your statement is completely untrue. I have known MANY JWs shun their family. In my situation I have had siblings disfellowshipped my family (myself/husband/parents) never shunned them. We loved them no matter what. This is rare since my family is very active for over 35 yrs.

Completely scripted, my husband has been chairman many times. We laugh at the instructions but I guess they do this to keep the loose canons from completely flubbing it up.
i talked to a current jw today and he told me that it came out in print from the wtbts that you can be a memebr of the ymca as long as you don't associate with the other worldlys that go there..

Nobody's telling me I can't join the Y. More than half of our congregation shops at St. Vincent DePaul Stores. I put money in the Salvation Army pot. I buy the little poppy from the Vets. I know Witness children who have benefitted from St. Jude's Hospitals and The March of Dimes. They perform good services for people. They don't discriminate because of religion. Why should I?
The reasoning on that is you are buying an item not necessarily donating and getting nothing in return.

You are correct. I have never heard of the WTS easing off on becoming a member. I do believe that a person is allowed to take an exercise class for instance and not actually becoming a member. Their reasoning on this is you are paying for a service or item.

Curiosbutterfly, Bane is not a Witness. He doesn't even know what BOE means. He thought it was an apostate saying on another thread.

we saw him out front with several other guys mowing the lawn, trimming, sweeping, etc.
the thing i'm wondering.....does that mean he's a ministerial servant now?
No that does not mean he is an MS, anyone who is a JW in that congregation can help clean and mow lawns. Does not mean he is not an MS but mowing a lawn is not a respobsibility for an Elder or MS.
