LOL I almost spit my drink out. I hope she realizes an airstream trailer is not hitting the jackpot.

Older man marries younger woman, yes; younger man marries older woman?
by dgp ini understand that marriages between an older man and a much younger woman are a fact of jw life.
the reasons i have seen include the lack of an available prospect, of the fact that the older man has some power in the congregation and therefore marrying him is something like an advantage.
i wonder what the advantage can be, and i would appreciate any light on this (new or old).. but, how often does a younger man marry an older woman?

Natick, MA Assembly Hall
by Eiben Scrood ini have a lot of memories of attending assemblies there for 30 years.
does anyone remember all the purple coloring?
remember that guy who used to wave a stick like he was conducting an orchestra except there was no orchestra, only a guy playing the piano and the audience singing?.

Still go to Natick and it looks SO much better than the purple chairs. Much cleaner decor and nice on the eyes. Last year the soft serve machine was in the kitchen when I passed on from the stage. The kitchen is still working but not used during assemblies since the arrangement to bring your own food.
The parking is a pain and never listen to the parking goons that want you to park 6" from the other car. Like I want my nice car being parked next to a POS so it can get dinged up.
A brother who used to be the caretaker of the assembly hall (Tim Green) left his wife and ran off with another elder's wife. He was always so full of himself and his true colors showed. This was probably 12-15 yrs ago, kept this ongoing relationship with an elder's wife.
Anyone remember Gerry Montopoli?
Coffee
Yes and they all thought they were better than anyone. I was friendly with the grandkids but I saw how others were treated. At the DC the Montopoli's always made sure everything went the "Montopoli Way" or you were chastised.

Comment made on Freeminds.org: The sad consequence of the flawed "two witness" rule.
by AndersonsInfo inthere are over 120 comments in response to my "discoveries of barbara anderson" article found on freeminds.org, but this particular one posted yesterday really got to me.
any watch tower apologists who might post a response here better choose their words carefully because anybody that tries to defend this insane "two witness" policy has to be insane too.
read on.... sad consequence.

Very very disturbing. To have his memorial talk in a KH and the elders KNOWING what he did is wrong. Woody needed help and those poor boys he molested need serious help not only for being touched but for seeing this former elder have his memorial talk at the KH.

Question about the JW Hurricane Katrina "Relief"
by Brymichmom init was relayed to me by a friend that in order for jw's to get "help" from other jw's, that they needed to fill out a form (to make sure that they were jw's) and answer questions concerning how active they are and meeting attendance.
if the meeting attendance was low or if they were "inactive", then they weren't going to be taken in or helped.
in the situation that was relayed to me, a jw woman with a couple of teenaged girls was asking for help.

I have no idea about a form but I do know people who went down there and were helping not only JWs but their neighbors with roofing, drywall etc. So I find it hard to believe that would be in writing and probably some elder who has no compassion.

Long Distance Adultery and Other Issues
by buddhaisbetter inallow me a moment to introduce myself: first of all, i am not a member of your faith as surely can be garnered from my choice of user name.
i joined this forum with the intention of getting some information on a situation i'm forced to contend with that concerns my son.
my questions are not designed to bash your beliefs, regardless of my personally held opinions and i hope that any discussion can be conducted without contention.

What she told your son is a lie. No elder would ever give the green light to continue contact while she is married. She is "scriptually" not able to remarry at this point. I am an active JW and your son needs to run VERY fast. He cannot change who he is for her then he loses his identity, which seems like he does not have much of due to his low self esteem. I wish him the best but they both need to work on themselves first before entering in a relationship then mix in she is married with a young child is a recipe for disaster.

Who Are Your Past Circuit Overseers? It's a small world..
by mentallyfree31 inwho were your past circuit overseers?
i'm sure a lot of us actually know mutual people, as the co's relocate all over the country.. here's a few from the southeast us: (let me know if you recognize any names and post yours too please...).

He and his wife served in Brazil for many years and then as you stated had to come back to the US. I was a teenager when he served our circuit so I do not have a viewpoint on him as a person. They had a story on him in a WT this past year. Boy did he get old.

As long as their in love but what makes you think is, why would a woman in her 20's/30's want to be with a man 20-25+ years older than her? That sends off a red flag. Only thing I can think of is foreign women in countries who are struggling think American men have $. Then that could be the draw.

My x (still a jw) who is 62 married a jw in her early 20s. He won't tell our kids her exact age.

I do not care who you are that is just odd. What does this young "girl" see in him? I assume your "ex" is still a JW? When I was in my 20's no way in the world would I look at a 62 yo. Heck my parents and inlaws are in their early 60's.

I am laughing really hard here. Why would AGBM even want to brag on this site? Someone has a screw loose.
