but they don't live up to any standards either. that is just one of the things they don't talk about.

As a group, I suspect we are pretty representatives of exJW's. We are a pretty broad spectrum of the
JW experience. What hit me is how real our posts are. We tend to be pretty honest about ourselves
and our failings. We take a realistic look at all things we discuss whether witness related or not.
Its probably a backlash from never being able to say what was really on our minds. I catch my mom
and dad saying things that they really think sometimes, but always in a low voice. Yes, Jehovah's
Witnesses have brains and do think, they are not idiots. I suspect many of them think the same things
we do about a variety of subjects. The difference is that they choose not to speak what is on their
minds.

Assemblies: Were You Always on the Prowl for a Mate?
by prophecor init was usually encouraged that we try to remain single somewhere during the assembly, especially the summer conventions.
some of you sisters were so hott with your summer dresses, hair freshly done.
though i went for the obligatory meeting attendance, it was nice to be able to go on a fishing expedition for sisters, if that was your choosing.

What JW's are saying regarding the downsizing at Bethel
by jimbob ini haven't posted anything for a while on jwd due to being busy with work and school, but this email was to much of a crack up not to post.
this was sent to my wife today from her old jw friend.
she forwarded it to me and i'm posting it with her permission.

change, it keeps a coming.
i found the saddest part when she said, There is nothing left in this world!. that is such an absolute statement and in
my experience absolute statements are made by people who have no logical argument.

that's it. that's what people have learned out of all this effort. they have no clue about 1914, faithful and discreet slaves, paradise earth, Jehovah's plan for salvation, etc.
nope, this is the good news of the kingdom that has stuck in people's heads.

Shunned by a JW leading a double life
by misspeaches ini seriously do not understand how some people reason.
if they do reason at all.. my boyfriend has been friends with a couple of guys since highschool.
it turns out that both these guys are jw's.

peaches, you have hit on the reason many people are involved with the JW's or religion in the first place. it gives them a psychological way to think they are better than "the world" even though they are just like everyone else with their own particular vices.
the shunning simply reinforces in his head that he is "okay" because he is a member of a preferred group.
its a game. a very silly game.

"Where else are we to go?" - How to answer?
by AlmostAtheist inhey guys,.
assume you're talking to a faithful, indoctrinated jw that is only now getting some doubts rolling in his head.
let's say that he doesn't have much info yet, hasn't done much research, and is pretty scared of anything that smells "apostate".

the whole idea of having to be part of a god group is so eerie. how bout just being in a relationship with god, just you him, intimate, bible or spiritual guide of your choice to read and meditate on.
isn't group prayer and worship a little like group sex. i mean, very much less intimate and meaningful in the end, right?

Earth:Will our cradle also be our grave?
by IronGland inwill we ever get off this rock?
we have two options for interstellar travel, fast or slow.
going fast will require technology we can barely comprehend yet, but even travelling at 99% the speed of light would only make 1% of our galaxy traversable within a human lifetime.

I do not believe space travel outside the solar system will occur.
We are stuck and will eventually consume the natural resources of this planet.

very much a shame to die so young.
people in general are more protective of their homes than they used to be, but this sounds like a mentally
ill person.
i had guns pulled on me twice in door to door work and was threatened with violence a number of times.
