I hope this blows over or never develops and you're able to pursue your choice of laying low and supporting your wife. But don't worry yourself sick--if it escalates, which it may not, deal with it then, but try not to let worry over it steal your joy and health now.

by brotherdan ini just can't win!
about a year ago when i began to have doubts i talked to one of my old friends about what i was feeling.
her and her husband actually did a ton of research and left the organization quietly and quickly.

finally read Crisis of Conscience
by A.Fenderson ini recently finished reading crisis of conscience.
in short, it was one of the most important books i've ever read, even considering that i left the kh 13 years ago.
i honestly cannot see how anyone could read it and still maintain that they believe in the wts religion--have any of you ever known someone to read it and actually still believe and be happy with the jw religion?

He also believes the Holy Spirit is dwelling within him and he thinks he knows more than the GB. He thinks one day he'll be able to be a member.
That certainly does sound like a unique case--it takes a very singular person to take the name Jehovah's Witness and defend the religion vehemently while simultaneously maintaining that he knows more than the divinely-appointed leaders whom he shall one day join (or replace?).

Wild speculation/predictions
by serenitynow! inall the talk about the generation changes and the fact that my mother said she doesn't care cause she didn't believe the last few changes anyway got me to thinking.
my mom told me strange things growing up, and being a child and believing in her and the org, i just took as fact some things that now seem unlikely to be true.. 1. she said that the end would definitely come before the year 2000. of course i asked her about that after hearing the song 1999. based on her answer i was like "boy, i better get my act together.
" i'm pretty sure she was wrong about that one.

@serenity: Those who would intentionally pressure you to believe, or make you feel like not believing as they do is a flaw on your part, obviously have an agenda, even if it's just to make themselves feel better--don't let them get to you.
@OTWO: I don't think atheism and Buddhism are mutually exclusive.

Quandry, please read it.
+1.
I've since lent the book to someone dear to me who is presently questioning the role of the WTS in Christian worship. I told them prior to giving it to them that I sincerely believed that if they read it they could no longer remain a JW. First we spoke of it since, they asked "Why did you give me that book?" I was very worried for a second, but then they told me that they were about half-way through and found it so interesting that they couldn't put it down. I was very relieved and glad to hear that.
I am not any type of Christian or all that interested in Christianity--considering that, would anyone who's read In Search of Christian Freedom recommend reading that as well, or is it more geared to those who wish to follow Jesus yet not the WTS?

JW that works downstairs from me in concession stand holds up Daily Text asking out loud, "Did you have your breakfast?"
by miseryloveselders inthe company i work for rents out several floors in an office building.
this jw works for the actual office building, specifically in a little mini concession stand, with things like overpriced chips, soda, etc.. so i'm walking through the revolving doors this morning, and i see her.
elevators can be a mofo in the morning some days.

She's done this before, and I think I'm going to have to approach her about this.
Hm, wonder if that's likely to backfire? If she took it personally, any chance she might inform the elders that you're embarassed to be known in public as JW or somesuch nonsense? I hope not, but might want to consider it--then again maybe I'm just paranoid....?

I recently finished reading Crisis of Conscience. In short, it was one of the most important books I've ever read, even considering that I left the KH 13 years ago. I honestly cannot see how anyone could read it and still maintain that they believe in the WTS religion--have any of you ever known someone to read it and actually still believe and be happy with the JW religion? Obviously it's considered apostate literature, but I'm sure that doesn't stop all those who consider themselves JWs from reading it, especially if ever convinced to do so by doubting or concerned friends, family, or spouses.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

...when, not long after leaving the borg, you find yourself accidentally starting a prayer "Jehovah, ..." then realize what you're doing and quickly end it "...FUCK YOU!" and get a good giggle out of it.
Maybe that's just atheist apostates.
Or just me.

Homosexuality is a Sin. Beleive me, you'll want to see this!
by whereami inthe definition of "pot meets kettle".
this is just to funny.
how is anyone supposed to take religion seriously, really.. .

"people do not change 'orientation', they change behavior, maybe."
That's the crux of the matter that ought to be considered by those who believe homosexuals can (and/or should) be reformed.
Forgive the simplistic and aruably idiotic-on-some-level analogy, but I think it not altogether inappropriate:
If someone loves chocolate ice cream, and hates vanilla, you *may* be able to reverse that on some level, but only with brainwashing techniques, never with anything honest or straight-forward, nor with pure "logic" or argumentation. Otherwise, if you're not fully successful, but beat it into their heads that chocolate is of the devil, and vanilla is the way and the light, they may start eating vanilla, though it almost makes them physically ill, but they're going against their innate, low-level desires, only having temporarily repressed them (they're sure as hell not going to yell "JESUS!" when they consumate their union with vanilla). They'll still love if not the taste, at least the memory of the chocolate, and feel the associated guilt of loving something evil. The guilt alone of being themselves evil for so strongly wanting that which is evil may be enough to destroy them. If not, it's only a matter of time before they start sneaking off to Baskin Robins for illicit rendezvous, or, at the very least, experimenting by topping vanilla ice cream with Hershey's syrup.
I think my analogy took on a life of it's own there, but I hope I made a point.

Witness 007: "How does his song go?..............what's it called?.........It goes ..........."Tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1975!!!!!!!!! You know the one!"
Niiiiiiice! :-)
But you have to wonder if he even knows about the 1975 stuff. And the 1940s stuff. And 1920s/1914/1874(?), etc. I'm guessing not.
