It is so hard sometimes. I felt the same way for years. My kids are half grown. I had a moment at an assembly where I just couldn't listen to it anymore. That was it for me.

It's tough learning the truth
by Cook My Socks UK inthis just came to me(after a few jd's).. i need another study!
i was raised a jw as yound child and so have known nothing else(bar a few christmas and birthdays), what i read makes sense but doesn't make sense at the same time.
i find it easy to dismiss what i read here but inside know it's not being true to myself.

For Those Who Married "in the truth"
by Magwitch inhow did you meet your mate (convention, local hall)?
did you date long?
did you really have anything in common other than the same religion?

I met my future husband through a mutal friend. But it wasn't until we met up again at a convention that I fell for him. He looked so stunning in his suit. Me in my sleek dress..90's with a slit that I only let flap open when the cute guys were watching. I was walking down the stairs and he was looking up from the bottom at me. Nice huh...I was like "yeah baby, your the guy."

Yeah, I just saw this posted on MSN. It is horrible. I originally felt bad for her, but the story seemed off. Now I know why.

by crazy2try ini have been working on the fade for almost a year now.
my in-laws seem to have finally quit asking if we will be at the meeting.

They were saying "We'll see you tomorrow," then it changed to "Hope to see you tomorrow.".. then "Do you think you will be there?" .... " to "we will be at the meeting in the morning.".....Yesterday it was "Dad has a talk in ____ tomorrow, so we won't be at our meeting." I just smiled and wished him luck.
They quit bringing us the time slips about 3 months ago, but they continue to pick up our magazines. They go right into the recycle.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. Vacation, School, Work....bla..bla bla....But:
This is exaclty what stopped me from going to the meetings. I attended my last 2 day assembly back before the holidays and a member from the governing body gave the last talk. He spoke about this. I was stunned. He said it numerous times. Trying to be funny...such as saying ..You shouldn't reach accross and touch your son's head in affection....Hug your family....cause someone might get the wrong idea during the prayer. My son who was 10 at the time leaned over to me and said "Why don't they counsel people to keep their eyes closed?" That was it for me. I was done. I almost stood and walked my children out. I was so mad. My in-laws were right next to me, I think out of love for them was the only reason I didn't cause a scene. Some reason this was my turning point. I am through.

At a 2 day assembly ...the point that the brother spoke about that drove me mad....."don't hug your husband, wife or child during prayer".
by crazy2try ini attended one day of a two day assembly and did ok until the very last talk.
the brother was from bethal and well jw's pay closer attention to their talks, cause that is when some new info is given,,,right.
well anyways i lost focus and began to daydream, cause it became one of those talks that just talks about wasting time.

I love all these comments.
I do remember opening my eyes as a child during prayer and sneaking a peek around to see who had their eyes open. I remember seeing several nose pickers, kids pushing on each other, parents reaching over and giving their kid a pinch, I received several of those. the funniest was when a sister in front of me lost her slip during the prayer. She just reached down, scooped it up and put it in her bag. I remember watching her action after the prayer. She acted like nothing happened. I thought it was so funny.

Today, I drove two ladies in a car. Two of my clients. We usually talk friendly during the two hour drive. I have driven them before and they are lively and nice.
The one sitting on the passenger seat pulls out an Awake from her backpack, turns to me and says "Have you ever read these." I was stunned for a second.
I already knew she is not a witness. Turned out, she was on the bus and the lady next to her gave it to her. The witness' were riding the busses that moring.
I told her "yeah, once and awhile."
She thought it was funny that she was given an Awake form 2008. She did open it and start reading an article.

Thanks, I will show him those sites when it is the right time.
He is so funny. I know it is the fear of all of the drama and he wants to avoid it. I am just ahead of him and am so ready to move on with my life.
The last few days, since I posted, he makes comments like "You must be addicted to that site." He wanted to attend the talk on Sunday, but we stayed up late and didn't get up. I didn't set my alarm and neither did he. some brothers stopped by on Saturday when he was working outside and encouraged him to come. He came inside and told me.... I was on this site at the time. I thought that was funny. So did he acutally. I think it is going to take time.

Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings
by LittleSister intoday i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

This is so funny.
I have to say that one of the things that drove me nuts were when the little kids infront of me turned around and stared at me, picking their noses and the parents not noticing. I didn't care so much if they let them look around, but I didn't like the staring.
The other things that made me angry. Mentioned earlier...children getting baptized. That makes me so mad. I don't clap, I don't watch. I can't stand it.
I also went to a Book Study where this brother would describe the pictures. Once there was a pic of the area around Bethal and he gave us a layer by layer 10 min comment about the names off all the buildings, streets, the bridge, river, what it looks like at night. how long it takes to walk from one area to another. It was nuts. My dad was conducting and I asked him later why he let him go on like that. Dad said he wanted to see how long the bro would talk. That was even more nuts.
