Mental Block...

hi, i am a male in my late teens... now, as we all know, when you are a jw, even looking at the opposite sex is a deadly sin.

the most a boy can do to a girl without brother 90 year old virgin giving you a lecture, is awkward stares from across the room.

even a mere "hello" is enough to raise suspicions.. anyway, as time goes on, this thought pattern carries itself over, to even after you've left the organisation.. whenever you like a girl, you are scared to make any sort of approach, even a friendly one, in case someone (she) thinks you are a sexual pervert.

It's nothing SEVERE, and I'm pretty good at correct my own flawed mental patterns, it's just a pain until I get over it. Not a fan of therapy :D (I've tried it several times for anxiety/depressive issues).

a common attitude among ex-jw's is that the watchtower will face collapse only when the money dries up - i disagree.

The only people worth trying to help are the youth who haven't been fully brainwashed yet, and the older ones who never fully bought it in the first place.

As hard it is to accept, some will never change no matter what.

Whenever you like a girl, you are scared to make any sort of approach, even a friendly one, in case someone (she) thinks you are a sexual pervert. Even when a girl quite CLEARLY likes you, you are STILL scared to make any sort of move in case it's thought of in a wrong way.

Despite being free from the restraints of the organisation, the same thought pattern goes through your mind, destroying your chances of anything successful happening...Approaching a girl in any sort of way makes you think you're doing something immoral, even when you aren't....

I guess I'm asking for advice on how to break this block, and also ranting.

i know this is a pointless question, but what if this happened:.

you came home from work one day, sat down, and turned on the tv.

there is a sudden announcement that the un has banned all religion.

Just a point about Buddhism...

It is not a "religion" in terms of worship, more a philosophy or view of life. Buddhists would not stop being Buddhists, because there is no real "Organisation" or "leader". Forget the Dalai Lama, that's Tibetan Buddhism for you (he's still a great man, and that's not a knock on Tibetan Buddhism completely).

something i've been thinking of.... god created humans in his image, yet it's possible for human's to sin, so therefore it's possible for god to sin right?.

the jw's will throw the, "but jehovah can never lie", but if it's possible for him to sin then it's possible for him to lie about not lying?

Imagine a WT Paradise Earth with over 100 Billion People- Not!

for years the wt has claimed that only 20 billion people have ever lived on the earth- in 1988 they claimed that there would be 1/3 hectare of every person who ever lived, which they said was enough to grow all the food that was needed.

a more realistic number by the population reference bureau is over 100 billion.

life in the wt utopia would resemble living in third world slums with just one bowl of food a day.

As a kid I always used to ask my Dad, what would happen with the world was full (in a paradise Earth)?

His response was, "Jehovah might ask us to stop reproducing at one point".

Awful answer, really... They say "All of your desires will be filled" in paradise, what if your desire is to have kids?

so family forced me into accepting the two new pro-creation books released at the convention.

i haven't had a chance to read them properly yet, but i expect to be drilled to death by friends and family on how brilliant the book is.. anyway, i was wondering if anyone was working on a critical analysis?

or could join me in putting together a list of flaws in the books?
