  Christmas and the Cross

  talking about christmas and the cross will stir a debate with any dedicated jw but the same idears can be found in other churches for one my own church the adventists.. the weekend before this last xmas we were told in hushed tones we would be haveing visiters from another adventist church from the other side of canberra.

  some saints from this church were haveing problems with all the agenda planned for xmas and were just not happy with xmas trees and presents being given to the kids there for the xmas celebrations.

  we were told these people would be worshipping with us where xmas was limited to a sermon about xmas and the kids sung some carols.

  You are Adventist?

  And they have a lot of same beliefs as JW?

  I had heard there are some Adventist roots in The JW religion but, I do not really know much about them.

  My sisters fiances fam was Adventist and I was told they didnt do the holidays for many years and just like 4 years ago started to.

  Do you celebrate?

  And the cross your faith finds offensive?

  What are your Articles of Faith? Or basic outline of beliefs?

  Not saying I am converting.2 Cults in my life are enough. lol

  I am just curious.

  I actualy used to be a Mormon!

  Not a surprise I guess....Traded one cult for another

  I became Mormon because I was engaged to one. I became serious about for a time even after he and I broke up.

  There is a thread some where about Baptisim for the dead. Refiners gave some good pionts on it.

  Basically it is giving those a choice who are dead and awaiting the resurection a chance to be brought back on the Celestial Earth to live with Elohim and Jesus.

  There are 2 other kingdoms and to Mormons no one dies!! No hell ether.

  But the greatest reward for serving God is to be made a God just like Our Creator. To Mormons he is not the only God there is a chain of Gods going back because where did Our Creator come from? Well, he was created silly

  It seems logical for a time but, then there are other aspects.

  I am so sorry for what you went through in "The Truth"! I know alot of sister's with storys just like ours and believe it or not if it is possible....worse things happen to them at the hands of "God's People".

  We have it better now because there is nothing "The Friends" can do to us anymore. We're out!

  Dang, what an evasive speaker! I just hated how Mr.Brown dissembled over and over again!!

  Im sure The God Show would love to hear about all the families broken up by The WTBS!

  As well as Collage discouraged, and that The WTBS teaches They are the ONLY Truth about God out there!

  Cracked me up when they said women could be independent career women. I was like where? At Burger King? Would you like a fry with that Mr.Brown??

  I know single moms and grandmothers given no help from congs because they choose to go to collage to learn to make a good living! They dont want welfare or to be hand to mouth alone with children. But while they are in school if they go to the elders for help they are told drop out of collage and youll have more financially. Or drop out of school and you can spend time with your children and not have to worry about a sitter!

  This they get told by a man who drives a Lincoln and just took his kids to Disney Land! They just want to make a living to provide modestly and are told they are at fault they have no support with their kids! What a crock!

  How can a woman be an independent career woman if she has no education?? Come on!

  This whole interview was dancing around the Truth not telling it!

  Ranting again lol....

  The BIG one for me wasn't even going out on service. There was pressure there of course. I have never lived in a home that was favorable to religion of any kind. So it wasn't easy making it out and I always got lectures about it. Still I enjoyed the preaching work believe it or not. I'm just weird that way.

  The BIG pressure was when I was Pregnant with my last child. I was on doctor ordered bed rest and only left the house for doctor visits. Real bummer there!

  The "Friends" used to come visit me while they were out on service(getting that extra time)and would encourage me to go to meetings and service. Finally after explaining 100 times my situation to every bro and sis that stopped by I told this one sister that I had miscarried before and I was having health problems, the doctor ordered bed rest and I REALY could not go. Get this now..she says,You can pray for Jehovahs Dynamic Energy and then you can make it to meetings when you have Jahs spirit. She said a few more things but, when she left I just cried and cried because she made me feel like if I couldnt get healthy enough for meetings I did not have Jahs spirit.!

  You know meetings were so important to these people that not a single one of these bros and sisters were giving or offering my children a ride to meetings. See if I had Jahs spirit then he would give me His dynamic energy and I could get the kids there myself!

  This was one of the most discouraging times in my life. When I think back on my whole time as one of Jehovahs Witnesses it was a miracle my children and I lasted so long.

  Im sure most here feel the same.

  That is such a crime that those who claim to speak for God can be so unloving.

  My 21/2 cents worth.

  one sunday morning, after the meeting, a local elder brings up in conversation that he had spent a night working at a brothel and not only didn't see any problem with it, but actually was rather proud of it!

  one sunday morning, after the meeting, a local elder brings up in conversation that he had spent a night working at a brothel and not only didn't see any problem with it, but actually was rather proud of it!

  You know its not where he put these alarms in that bothers me Simon..Its the fact he was bragging of it!

  Seems to me he thought it a feather in his cap to have breathed the air in of a BROTHEL!

  That is the hypocritical part to me.

  Personally, I would be nice to anyone no matter what their life style or profession.

  No matter who a person is they are just that A PERSON.

  Still and all since we are not to STUMBLE our brothers to mention the job was wrong, wrong, wrong.

  If he did it to be nice he should have not let one hand know what the other was up to.

  Because, like you point out by your wording of your post, some may not approve of having Ladies Of Ill repute as customers.

  In honestly as I said he was bragging of breathing in the AIR of a brothel. Sort of a stud by associations!

  i left the jws 7 years ago and still have a sister in there.. my mother has also now left and as a result has been banned from seeing her grandchildren by my sister, yet her father inlaw a jw and convicted peodophile ( he repented so its all ok now!!!

  I think when many find out the truth about the troof they will be shamed of their BAD, UN-CHRISTIAN like behavior!

  By the way I know of 3 pedophiles in my last cong!! Never reported by the elders!!

  I was so upset when the elders counseled one of my friends to take her pedophile husband back I called Child Protective Services!!

  My friend was MAD at 1 st , but forgave me later. She was glad it was taken out of her hands and that I was the one displeasing God and not her! lol

  Oh well.
