  What were you thinking when you got yourself babtised???

  this is actually more than one question.

  but let me first explain my own experience:.

  at about the age of 16 my parents started asking the famous question: what is keeping you from getting babtised?

  Presents? you got presents? Darn I missed out again!

  I got baptised because my dad was an elder..he said it was time and I was allways trying to please. I was also 16 and didn't have a clue as to what I was doing.

  This may belong in another thread, but how do you know for sure if you were disfellowshipped?

  I was invited to a judicial meeting, but didn't go. And never heard another word from a witness or elder again.

  I just assumed I had been disfellowshipped. And my family has been doing their duty of shunning me as required for almost 20 years. But I never actually was told that I was disfellowlshipped or what to do to regain Jehovah's approval.

  for me the biggest technique used was GUILT .....

  I was not doing enough to please Jehovah

  i work in a meat-processing plant in the us.

  one of the products we make is the stuff that becomes roast beef.

  i can't tell who for, and we're not their only supplier, but they're big enough to advertise nationwide in america, so..... anyway, when we do our part on my line, before the meat's sent to the next step, we drip blood from the meat's box in the container the raw meat's dumped into.

  How Many Have Had Elders Visit?

  just out of curiosity, now that it's been 6 weeks since we had our visit from the elders..... how many of us have been called on by the elders??

  No visit for me yet....But is has been 15 years since i even set foot in a KH.......My dad is even an elder...I guess no one is worried about my salvation......

  hey hows everyone doing... i am a resident of edmonton in canada, and i am only 16 years old, i just left the jw religion.

  i just knew it wasnt in my heart, my parents dont care but i told them that i dont want to go to any meeting or talk to any of our old friends.. they still dont know why..but i fell like it was to much of a currupted situation..i felt like i was taking orders from man, not from god.

  i was not baptized yet, but i was going strong in the ministry as a unbaptized publisher.

  how many of you were spanked, beaten or in some other way physically corrected as a jw?.

  my mother used to beat me with her hands, shoes, belts and various other items within reach when i misbehaved.

  many times it was borderline abuse.. do jws teach to beat their kids into submission using physical means?

  My sister and I were beaten on a regular basis...Sometimes we were spanked just in case we did something when they weren't around....They used belts mostly....But I also remember my dad yanking the phone cord out of the phone and using that...ever had a coil shaped bruse?

  our visitors were baptist folk, so there was no shiraz today, out of respect for their sensibilities!

  we enjoyed our conversation about dateline/panorama/sunday and they are taking a tape of the sunday program to various church groups in the south of sydney.
