Sooo...from reading these last two pages, the only thing that will be missed is the social aspect of the Tues. meeting. Am I correct?
Maybe someone can get up an old fashioned quilting bee. That would be way more rewarding.

i took my mother a plate of food today, thanksgiving dinner.
she won't cook it because it's, well, thanksgiving, but she was sitting there waiting for me to bring her a plate of turkey and dressing.
i came in and said, "mom, i brought you some food.
lol....
no need to redeem yourself.
I think snooping is fine. I snoop my kids stuff all the time, and their grown. (they know too...they just say..Mom don't be surprised or mad at anything you find)

i'm slowly making my way through this strangely titled (portable isn't the first adjective that comes to mind when looking at this book) tome of atheistic thought throughout the past 2 millennia.
most of the samplings come from the past few centuries, but it begins with some writings by lucretius and omar khayyam.
this book is a delight and a must have for an atheist who wishes to see the progression of atheism over the centuries, as well as some of the most damning polemics against the illogic of faith.
I put in a request of "God is not Great" and tomorrow I'll call and see if they can locate the "the portable atheirst". sounds very interesting.
Thanks for sharing.

Is this book new? I just checked the local library and they have several books by C Hitchens, but not this one.

one of the police officers here is a transplanted new yorker who was raised as a jw by his g'ma.. he and i talk a lot about his jw experience, his g'ma, and his children (boy age 18, girl age 11).. his kids are both talented athletes (tennis) and the son won a tennis scholarship to university.
he hopes the daughter will follow in her brother's footsteps.. mr. officer mentioned that one saturday, after a particularly strenuous workout, he gave his daughter a bottle of red gatorade to drink.
he said she resisted drinking it at first, but he put his foot down and made her do it.. well, come sunday, he got an urgent message at work that he was to call home immediately.
Awwww....my 11yr old granddaughter started her's last week. Thankfully she was prepared and knew what was going on. We bought her chocolate and told her we were going to miss the little girl she used to be, but was looking forward to watching her grow in to a strong and beautiful woman.
I also found out that one of her friends started and didn't tell her mother because she was afraid she would get in trouble. How sad is that?
