Recycling at its best, a local forum

i always feel guilty about throwing out large items, and many times you can't so they wind up in the back of the garage waiting for a trip to the dump.. just recently i found a local forum called free recycle.

everyone posts what they have for free, or what they would like for free.

no deliveries, the person who wants it makes arrangements to have it picked up.. i joined on a whim.

I've freecycled tons of clothes and shoes. I know I could drop them off at the Goodwill, but I liked knowing that it was going to someone that really needed it now and was local.

My daughter's husband was working for an apartment complex and rental houses, when people moved out, he went in and trashed everything. He started calling my dauther and she would go in and make a list and freecycle the stuff instead of letting him throw it out. It was usually gone within hours.

I've received a outdoor swing with a canopy. It just so happened I knew the person freecycling the swing and he brought it to me for a cup of coffee. hehehe

How "worldly" people REALLY view Jehovah's Witnesses

when you are a jw it is pounded into your head that the "world" hates you, wants to kill you, runs around saying all kinds of horrible things about you, and would take away all your rights, freedom of religion, etc, if it could.. when i first left the wtbts organization i told "worldly" friends and family about being a jehovah's witness.

not one of them said anything disrespectful, rude, insulting, or even unkind in any way.

i could just as well have said "i'm a baptist", or "i like comic books".. a few people who know that the wtbts is a cult were concerned over my emotional health, but that was out of a sense of friendship.. i have never met anyone who on hearing the phrase "jehovah's witness" got upset or said "those xxxxx".

remember these silly tests they make you take?

i don't remember how often they were, but thinking back on them, boy does it seem silly!

sitting there for half an hour trying to remember stupid stuff as if you are in school.

I remember putting up my hand up to answer what I thought was a simple written review question, and that I could no way in the would be wrong about..."is it ever ok to lie? or some question like that." I said,.."no, I may have elaborated, but I think I was at the one word answers, so probably elementary age, so probably just a 'NO'.

I was wrong...I was so devastated, when he said..."um..anyone else?" The answer was something like..it is OK to lie if the person doesn't deserve to know the truth .

After getting over the embarrassment of being and answering wrong, the answer started to bug me. ,,Why is ok to lie sometime,..why couldn't those people getting killed for not turning away from jehovah, just SAY what they had to say to save their lives. After all Jehovah could read their hearts..but no..they couldn't lie and they died.

Now I know I was just way ahead of my time.

Why do Ex-JWs start celebrating pagan Christmas?

hiya guys and gals.

im not trying to be self-righteous but i want to understand the thought process of someone who knows the origins of christmas, but starts celebrating it (putting up christmas tree, exchanging wrapped gifts; repeating merry christmas to everyone they see in the month of december)??

it seems very silly to me (imo) after knowing how and why christmas was created (to cater to pagans sun worship and convert to christianity)!!

Just wondering..I guess it could be either/or.

or neither. I celebrate the holiday for all the reasons stated above.

Mostly because I can and I wanna. That's why I do most things I do.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean they are harassing you.

Lots of people have said things I don't agree with.

Take what you want from this board and leave the rest. There is plenty of good to gain here.

I'm really talking about adults that use pouting. Really what are others supposed to do?

I just ignore, oh..roll my eyes and ignore. I don't know what else to do. Thankfully there currently aren't any adult pouters in my life that I have to deal with.

conversation with wife

just a short info: my wife is not aware of me being here, and its not the time to tell her yet.. however, i time and again raise questions or even disagreement with some teachings of the wts, and she readily accepts them, but still believes, it is "the truth".

but the other day, she talked about the anointed, the number going up, instead of down, and even saying, that maybe the number 144.000 is not literal after all, but maybe symbolic like everything else in revelation.. i said, i would not be surprised, if "new light" comes sooner or later.. she said, that the term "new light" seems overused,.

i realised my chance, and put this thought deeper, example "generation" teaching, how it went from new, to newer, and back to older teachings etc... .

I agree, entirely childlike behaivor. Then I thought more about that.

Neither of my children were pouters one boy, one girl...., still aren't,.....

only one of the three grand children, ..a boy, 5, is a pouter.

If he doesn't get his own way, he runs to his room. And screams and cries and talks to himself...then in about 15 minutes, he'll come out and say, "can we make a deal". Usually we do. Sometimes, it still a "no deal", and he runs to his room again. ..we can hear him in there saying stuff, like, "they aren't fair", "they hate me."..then he'll either try let's make a deal again or take a needed nap..and forget about whatever it was when he wakes up. seems pretty normal for a 5 yr old.

Recently a friend told me her and her husband split up because they were moving in different dirrections. They've been married for years, children grown, she wanted to go out and do things,..new and different things. He didn't, he would rather stay home. So she started going out and doing thing without him, started taking classes, joined some clubs, ect. To show his dissatifaction, he quit speaking to her, sometimes for days at a time.

Yestereday, the 70 yr old woman I worked with, told me her husband hasn't spoken to her in a few days, because he doesn't like that she is still so involved in her grown children and her grandchildren's life. (her son has just recently lost his eye sight, can no longer drive and is just now at 40+ learning how to live with a disability. One of the grandchildren lives with a drunk mother and isn't cared for properly. Grandmother takes her to the doctors appts, ect.)

Another friend told me when her husband is upset with her, he gets on his laptop and ignores her...again. pouting...again sometimes for days.

All of these men, I've met. I was entirely shocked that this POUTING, is the way they deal with something they don't like.

Why???

What does that accomplish?
